“Wow, that’s crazy. I love that song too, and I love it even more knowing the story.” Justin told me.

I laughed, “Yeah, it seems like they’re always turning things people say into songs.” I said.

“Does it ever bother you that anything you say could potentially be immortalized in a song?” he asked me.

“No. The thing is, I grew up around music, around the musicians that make it, and I know that any of those musicians that I say anything to, whether it be Cal or Luke or my Dad or Ash or Mike, they know what is okay to write about, and they know what isn’t.” I told him. He looked a little confused, but didn’t say anything, he didn’t ask, but I knew he wanted to know what wasn’t okay to write about.

“Like, for example, Luke would never write about my eating disorder, at least not directly, or about the time I stopped eating because one of their fans called me fat. He didn’t write about that, he just wrote a song about how much he loved me, and he was there for me. They all were.” I said, not looking directly in his eyes. It was a sensitive subject.

“Oh, wow, I’m so sorry.” Justin said, stopping the tattoo for a second.

“It’s okay, because those little things that make you who you are, those scars, they’re nothing to be ashamed of. I got stronger. I’m getting stronger everyday.”

Justin smiled, and I smiled, but he knew it was time to change the subject.

“So, how’s this feeling?” he asked me, clapping his hands together.

“Honestly, not so bad. It could be a lot worse.”

“Well we are pretty close to being done, time for one more story maybe?” he grinned like a child waiting for ice cream.

I smiled and nodded. “Sure?” I said, wanting to know what he wanted to know.

He started the tattoo gun back up. “Okay, so you said you and Luke were together all the time, right?” he asked. I nodded. “You also said that Beside You was about you.” I nodded again and smiled.

“We were together all the time, until… 5SOS went on tour with One Direction.”

“Ohhh!” he said in realization.

“You know we did the whole ‘long distance’ thing when we had to. You gotta do what you gotta do for love. We were actually apart for 2 months until yesterday.” I told him.

“Really? Tell me about that! Did you surprise him?”

“Ding, ding! That’s is exactly what I did. My plan was flawless…”
