"Happy birthday Daniel." I gave him a quick hug, as we entered the house.
"Thanks, I didn't really think there would be this many people here." He looked overwhelmed.
"Yeah, there's a lot," I looked around to see the crowd of our peers surrounding us. I felt my world explode when I saw Destiny, "is Christina here?" I needed her to tell me that everything would be okay and that Jonah wouldn't do anything with her.
"Yeah, she's with Corbyn somewhere, I don't know where though."
I stood on my tip toes to scan the big room and see if I could spot her. I saw her sitting at the top of the stairwell laughing with Corbyn.
"Yeah I see her, I'm going to go talk to her for a minute I'll be right back." I grabbed Jonah by the arm and lead him up the stairs to where the two sat. They greeted us with smiles on their faces.
"There you guys are, we were beginning to think you wouldn't show." Christina stood up to hug me.
"Wouldn't miss it." I vaguely smiled, " could you come talk to me in private for a minute please."
"Yeah." She furrowed her eyebrows.
We left the boys to talk and found ourselves in a giant bathroom.
I decided it would be best if i just blurted it out. "Destiny is here."
"Excuse me bitch what?" She blinked gravely.
"I feel like she is going to pull something on Jonah like she did the dance and I need you to tell me I'm over reacting so I can go out there and have a good time with my boyfriend."
Christina places both her hands in my shoulders and looked me dead in the eyes, "honey, it will be okay."
"Thank you." I smiled, quickly exiting the room to see Corbyn sitting alone on the step.
"Hey guys, everything good?" He chirped.
"Where did Jonah go?" I asked, trying not to overthink the situation.
"Don't know." He shrugged.
"I swear if that boy does anything stupid he won't live to see tomorrow." Christina clenched her jaw and cracked her knuckles.
"I'm sure he went outside to get some fresh air or something, this place is packed." I took a deep breath.
"Can I ask you kind of a personal question Soph?" Corbyn grabbed into the railing and pulled himself up.
"Depends, what is it?"
"Why are you with him if you don't trust him?" He asked taking me by surprise a little bit. It was a good question, why was I with him if I was doubting him so much.
"Honey, now is not the time." Christina shook her head.
"No he's right, our whole relationship I've been so worried that he is going to leave me or cheat on me."
"That's not a good relationship." Corbyn frowned.
"You and Christina work so well because you trust each other, and you love each other, but me and Jonah don't trust each other, so should we even be together." It felt like my whole world was falling down around me and I was only now beginning to see the truth.
"Maybe it's just not the right time for you two." Christina pulled me into a hug.
"Rip off the bandaid, it hurts less that way." Corbyn rubbed my shoulder as I tried not let tears pour from my eyes.
It was the right thing to do.
"I'll be right back." I took a deep breath, rushing down the stairs.
"Rip off the bandaid." I heard Corbyn tell from behind me followed by Christina loudly shushing him. All I ever wanted was a relationship like theirs, but it seemed like no matter what I did, the universe didn't want me to.
I found Zoë and Zach dancing in the middle of the crowded living room.
"Hey, do either of you know where Jonah went?" I yelled over the loud music. They both shook their heads no. I groaned, making my way through the crowd.
"Jack!" I yelled waving my hand high up over the heads of everyone.
"Soph!" He waved back.
"Where's Jonah?" I asked once I finally got to him.
"I don't know. Everything okay?"
"I'm ripping the bandaid off." I told him, wondering off.
Eventually I found him by the front door.
"Jonah!" I ran up behind him, placing my hand on his shoulder to turn him around.
Everything stopped around me.
