I knocked on Jack's door so hard my knuckles felt they would bleed. It was 9 pm on Friday and Jonah never picked me up. He didn't call to tell me he wasn't going to, he didn't answer any of my texts or calls. My blood was boiling.

"Hey what are you doing here-" I pushed past him and into the house, fists clenched by my side.

"Soph what's the matter?" Zach asked, muring the TV.

"Shut up Zach, I grunted, "is Jonah here?"

"No, just Zach, Daniel, and Me." Jack furrowed his eyebrows, "we haven't heard from him all week."

"What happened now?" Daniel asked, concern filling his eyes.

"He asked me out, told me he would pick me up at 7. Well 7 rolls around and he's no where to be found, and I call him, no answer, send a text no answer." I crossed my arms, letting Jack lead me to the couch to sit down.

"Maybe he fell asleep?" Zach suggested trying the lighten my mood.

"Maybe, or maybe he's on a date with Destiny instead." I felt tears forming in my eyes.

"He needs to grow a pair if he is talking to her still." Jack huffed.

"Need a hug?" Daniel asked and I fell into his arms, "if you want we can beat him up."

I was dreading school the following two weeks. I knew that when I got back I would have to face Jonah. He hadn't even called me.

The thought that I was over reacting had crossed my mind a few times. Maybe he did just fall asleep, or maybe he had a family emergency, or something had come up to where he couldn't go. If that was the case, why wouldn't he have texted me before hand to let me know, or texted me the next day explaining what happened.

When it was time to go back to school, I kept my head low during all the classes I had with him. I look up every once in a while to see if he looked the least bit sorry, but he wouldn't even look in my direction.

When the lunch bell rung, I made my way to our normal lunch table only to notice Jonah not sitting at his spot. I could finally conclude he was avoiding me.

"Hey guys." I smiled, sitting down next to Christina and Corbyn, trying to seem as happy as I could.

"Sophie! I feel like I haven't seen you in forever." Christina gave me a too tight for comfort hug, before going back to holding Corbyn's hand.

"I know, I miss my bestie." I rested my chin on the palm of my hand.

"Did you have a good break?" A girl with straight blonde hair and piercing green eyes asked from across the table. I had seen her plenty of times before but I couldn't figure out her name.

"Uh- Yeah I guess." I pursed my lips, giving Daniel a confused look. Within a few seconds I felt my phone buzz in my pocket.

Daniel to Me
Zoë, Zach's new girlfriend

The news filled me with a different sadness. As wrong as it was for me to be jealous of the girl, I was. I didn't have feelings for Zach, but I was going to miss the attention he gave me. I felt terrible about it.

"Zach told me about Jonah, I'm sorry." She gave me a sad smile, which I gave back.

My phone buzzed once more on the table, and I flipped it over to see Jonah had texted me.
