Chapter-17 You aren't my boss!

She opened his cupboard to find some of her clothes lying in the corner just the way she left it. Nandini dressed up formally for the briefing that was going to take place.

Manik was in his office but his mind was strolling somewhere. And that somewhere has to be Nandini of course! He was constantly checking his phone to see if Nandini texted him or not.

Manik's Internal Monologue

Can't she inform me if she has had breakfast or where is she now?
Manik rubbed his fingers on his forehead and closed his eyes. A certain kind of strange anxiety was choking Manik. He gently whispered "Where are you, love?"

He restlessly stared at his inbox and then finally decided to call her. As he was about to call her he heard a knock.

"Come in" he said his voice still anxious.

It was Rohit, the part of owner of Manik's Company (K.L Pvt. Ltd.)
Yes the same company Nandini received an appointment letter from ;)

More than a co-owner he was Manik's best friend. A best friend he could confide in.

What's up Manik? he said casually
Nothing said Manik keeping his phone aside.

Okay so as you know the HR head is leaving so the hiring team has finalised a very experienced psychologist. She will be our head psychologist plus heading the HR team too as she has a degree in Organisational Behaviour Psychology.

Interesting! smiled Manik. So when is she joining and what's her name? he questioned.

Umm that I don't know! She will be here any moment said Rohit glancing at the door.

Nandini looked at herself in the mirror and heaved a breathe. She wore a formal white kurti and dangling silver earrings.

She was very experienced and was heading a department in her previous hospital. She wanted a change so that is why she resigned there.

Nandini's Internal Monologue

Five years of experience and every time there's a interview I go numb gosh! I so miss Manik at this point of time.

Every time when she'd to go for a interview Manik always used to prep her up and kiss her forehead. And he used to say those three magical words. No not I love you but You'll rock it.

A tear escaped her eyes and she gently hushed I miss you love!

She reached the office and knocked the door.

May I come in? said not a familiar voice but a voice that Manik could literally feel.

Nandini? whispered Manik getting from his seat.

Manik? exclaimed Nandini

Rohit was shocked too. He knew Nandini pretty well but now for him she was his best friend's ex-girlfriend.

Ummm have you come for the briefing? said a shocked Rohit.

Yes but what are you two doing in this office? said Nandini.

We've bought over the shares of this office so now legally we own this office.

Oh! exclaimed Nandini

Manik with his authoritative voice exclaimed Why didn't you text me?

Oh please! said Nandini irritated.

I can't! said Nandini swaying her hands

As she was about to leave Manik shouted "Atleast ask your boss?"

You aren't my boss! Nandini yelled back.
