Chapter-23 Business Trip!

Next Day
Manik and Nandini both woke up with swollen eyes. Extreme pain jolted their hearts the entire night.

One drowning in guilt for mistrusting and the other breaking down because of being mistrusted.

Manik composed himself and got ready for office. He had to clear all the work piling up since Rohit has left the office.

Nandini too got ready for office. She knew she just didn't want to see his face but she had to. She left for office hoping that his presence doesn't affect her anymore.

At Manik's Office

Manik entered the lift and was busy checking his phone when he heard a voice-

"Wait Wait please hold the lift for me!"

Manik held the lift's door for the person. It was Nandini. She came running and thanked Manik without realising it was Manik.

"Thank you!" she said and looked at the person.

"Manik?!" she exclaimed with widened eyes.

Manik who was busy scrolling through his phone looked at her and  whispered-

"Nandini?"

Manik- "Umm.. I thought you won't come today!"

Nandini glared at him and exclaimed-

"You see sir, I had a really bad breakup and I just don't care about him. So don't worry I'll work efficiently."

Manik glared back listening to the word "Sir!"

He pinned her to the corner of the lift angrily. He locked his hands on both sides causing no way for Nandini to escape.

Their faces were so close that Nandini could hear his hot flaming breathe rubbing her cheeks. His eyes were oozing with anger. Nandini didn't fear him. She glared back and shouted-

"Sir! Get off my way!"

Manik brought his face so close to Nandini that Nandini started to feel weak in her knees.

Manik- "Stop calling me sir!"

Nandini pushed him away as she heard the lift door opening.

Nandini went inside her cabin slamming the door behind in anger. She had just sat down and was busy reading a file when the intercom rang.

**Tring**

Nandini- "Hello?"

Manik- "My office in 5." his tone was authoritative

Nandini sighed and got up and headed towards his office.

"May I come in Sir?" said Nandini irritatingly knocking at his door.

"Yes Nandini" answered Manik. The "sir" was still bothering him.

Manik- "We have to leave for Paris day after for a business meeting with the D.M Industries. We  want a person who can convince the chief that our company is worth it. You need to play with his mind and just help me crack this deal."

Nandini was shocked for a minute.

Manik- "Oh miss! hello why are you so shocked it's a business trip not our honeymoon! he said and laughed."

Nandini gave him a whatever kind of look and said- "So who all are going?"

Manik walked closer to Nandini and gently whispered in her ears.

"Just the two of US!"

Nandini unknowingly smiled and Manik being the tease caught her smiling.

Manik- "Oh so you're smiling, what's on your mind Miss.Psycho"

Nandini realised that she'd be smiling like a fool. She put on a serious expression and exclaimed- Umm  I wasn't smiling

Manik- "You were!"

Nandini- "No I wasn't!"

Manik- "C'mon you were!"

Nandini laughed and exclaimed- "Oh god Manik!"

As Manik saw her laughing he wished the world could just stop. Nandini was finally smiling and he was proud that he was the reason behind it after a long long time.

Manik- "Okay so pack pack your bags. Paris it is."

Nandini nodded and left the room.

Manik's Internal Monologue

This business trip is my chance to mend all the broken cracks of our relationship. Nandini Murthy I'll make you forgive me in the next ten days, I promise! I'll win your trust back.

Nandini's Internal Monologue

I'm trying my best to not let him affect me but why why does my anger melt every time I see him! Gosh! Nandini Murthy you can't forgive him so easily!

After 2 Days
At the Airport

Manik and Nandini boarded the flight. As they made themselves comfortable on their seats Nandini  was seated beside him. Manik looked at her and said-

Manik- "It's  a pretty long flight! Sleep tight."

Nandini- "Yeah pretty long. Of course I'll sleep."

Nandini rested her head on Manik's shoulders and dozed off to sleep. Manik looked at her lovingly and tugged her hair strands behind her ear. He covered her properly with a blanket and held her protectively in his arms. Manik too dozed off holding Nandini. Nandini dug her head deep in his chest cozily. Manik comforted her by cupping her shoulders and embraced her even tighter.

They were sleeping in each other's arms after what felt like an eternity.

After a while Nandini woke up and realised that they'd been sleeping in each other's arms. A part of her felt contented and happy but somewhere deep down the lane she still was hurt after what Manik did.

The flight landed and they reached Paris. This trip was going to change their relationship quite dramatically!
