Chapter-20 The face-off

The Next Day

Nandini got ready to leave for office and informed Priya.

Nandini- "Priya I will probably take a half day today and will be back by afternoon then we will go to shop for furniture okay?"

Priya- "Sounds perfect! I'll be waiting."

Nandini reached office and even before keeping her stuff in her cabin she headed towards Manik's cabin.

*Knock*

No response

*Knock*

No response again

Nandini's Internal Monologue

What the hell is he doing inside. Oh god if he's doing this intentionally I swear I'll kill him!

Nandini barged inside only to find Manik absent. Nandini went out and asked the peon.

Nandini-"Where's Manik sir?"

Peon- "Ma'am he hasn't reached office yet"

Nandini looked at time and was sure that something was wrong because Manik was extra punctual.

She went to Rohit's cabin thinking that he would definitely be knowing about his whereabouts.

She entered his cabin only to find it empty too. Nandini grew restless and started calling him again and again.

Nandini- "That's it enough is enough! Where is this goddamn idiot!"

Nandini called Priya and informed her that she won't be able to make it till afternoon.

Nandini called Rohit and as expected he too didn't pick up her call.

Nandini panicked as Manik never ever disappeared like this. Tears started rolling down her cheeks. She mentally prayed for his safety and rushed to his house.

She gulped down a lump that formed in her throat as she saw Manik's house locked.

Nandini started hysterically crying. She started sobbing heavily as she didn't know where to find Manik.

Suddenly an idea struck her mind. She checked her messages and found Rohit's address that Manik had previously texted her.

She wiped her tears and rushed to Rohit's house.

At Rohit's House

Rohit woke up and went to the living room. Manik was still sleeping on the couch due the heavy dose of sedatives that Rohit had mixed in his drink. Rohit smirked seeing his disheveled condition.

He walked closer to him and whispered in Manik's ears-

"My poor little baby! Look what have you done to yourself  *Tch*  *Tch*  *Tch*"

Nandini rang the bell. Rohit opened the door and was shocked to see her.

Nandini- "I'm sorry to disturb you but I wanted to know if Manik is at your place he isn't picking up my calls."

Before Rohit could say anything Manik groaned loudly from behind-

"AHH MY HEAD HURTS! "

Nandini moved Rohit aside and ran towards Manik. She was shocked too see him. His eyes were red shot indicating that he'd drunk a lot of alcohol. He was sweating profusely and groaning in pain.

Nandini quickly removed his shoes, unbuttoned his shirt, wiped his face and made him drink water. She made him lie down the sofa. She sat on one corner and gently rested his head on her lap.

Nandini- " Manik relax please I'm here, please relax!

Manik tightly held her finger and exclaimed Don't leave me please Nandini!

Nandini wiped his tears and patted his forehead. Rohit brought lime juice and gave it to Nandini.

Rohit- "He drank a lot last night here make him drink this."

Nandini made him drink the juice and Manik started to regain consciousness.

Manik got up and exclaimed- What's happening to me! I don't remember drinking more than one drink.

Rohit immediately covered up and said -

"You must've forgotten you drank a lot last night!"

Nandini looked at Rohit suspiciously, she found something fishy going on.

Nandini- "But after I left from your car you drove back to Rohit's place?"

Manik - "Yeah!"

Nandini- "But why?"

Manik- "To ask him if I should tell you the actual reason ..."

Rohit grew nervous fearing that Manik would tell Nandini that he came to his house to ask if he should tell Nandini the real reason of their breakup.

Rohit-

"Nandini what's this interrogation look at Manik let's take him to his room."

Nandini figured out that Rohit was definitely hiding something and she needed to find it out ASAP.
