Midoriya looked more than shocked after (y/n) had wrapped her fingers around his wrist, pulling him along. She cringed, unsure of whether he was uncomfortable or happy to be chosen, but she couldn't avoid him forever. Things were different between the pair, and (y/n) found herself thinking about it more and more as the days went by. She was upset, jealous and was disappointed in herself for not communicating her concerns with him earlier. He was her best friend. The only person she could confide in, after years of loneliness and solitude. At night, she'd lay, thinking only about how bad their relationship had become.
She loved thinking about the earlier days, back at Aldera. Life wasn't easy with Bakugo around, but they both had each other to cope. She had enrolled at the school quite late into the academic year, yet Midoriya hadn't hesitated to befriend her. At that point, she hated the world and was yet to learn how to interact with others. She was cold and a slow learner, yet he waited and waited. He never gave up on her, despite how socially inept she had been at first.
The meal had come to an end and the duo sat at a bench outside, while the pro paid.
"Izuku," She sighed. "I missed you."
His eyes widened and his head shot towards her. She stared back at him, teary eyed.
"I've been thinking about this a lot recently." She told him, her bottom lip curling downwards. "What happened between us?"
"I didn't realise you felt the same, (y/n)." Midoriya replied, rubbing the back of his neck. "I guess I avoided confronting you because you always looked so happy with Kirishima, Ashido and the others."
"Oh, Izuku. Katsuki was right." She smiled to herself. "We are idiots."
Izuku chuckled in response, before letting out a deep sigh.
"Do you think we'll be able to make up for lost time?" Izuku questioned.
"Oh, for sure!" Her eyes widened with joy, her hand grasping his own. "We're the freak duo that miraculously got into U.A afterall! Let's train together sometime!"
"(Y/n), I'd like that a lot!"
---
Bakugo paced back and forth, awaiting the arrival of his main rival. He remained tense, his hand clenched into fists by his sides. His jaw was begining to ache and his veins bulging. Kirishima watched his friend from the common area, but remained silent. Katsuki was too emotional at the time, and it was understandable - the most dedicated student in class had failed the exam, which the majority of his lesser peers had all passed with flying colors.
The duo had entered the dorm room again, instantly being surrounded by their classmates, who were dying to hear about the buffet, which was currently the talk of the town.
As if nothing had happened, Katsuki approached his childhood 'friend'. (Y/n) had continued to converse with her friends, but stayed cautious about the Aldera boys' interaction.
It was getting late, and people were returning to their rooms for the night. (Y/n) followed the crowd and returned to her room, watching out her window. She noticed the pair walking out and away from the dorm building. She had overheard them mention 'Ground Beta', so she knew exactly where she was heading in the next few minutes.
She jogged through the pretend city that she was more than familiar with. A chill ran down her spine, as she heard structures collapsing and the two boys screaming at one another. She stopped within an alleyway, peering around the corner, only to see Katsuki falling apart.
"WHY WAS I... Why was I the one who ended All Might?!" Bakugo screamed, tugging at the neck oh his shirt. "If I had been stronger and hadn't been kidnapped by villains, then that never would have happened! And this isn't just about goddamn All Might. This is about (y/n) too. Because I was too weak to protect her that night in Kamino. I couldn't stop that stupid girl. I couldn't stop her from letting them touch her. She did that, just to save me. And it wasn't just that. Why? Why didn't I turn back to look at her? I let her fight that Akira guy. I didn't take her to safety with me. And I let her fight her dad. She fought her dad to protect people, after I called her villain. I told her she was just like him. She was asleep for so long, I thought she left us. And do you know what I hate the most about all of this? The fact that she smiles at me and forgives me without hesitance. I even kissed her, for fucks sake. I kissed her and told her I love her! I don't have the right to do that or be with her - It's my fault that people look at her funny in the streets. Not once has she mentioned it, but I've seen it with my own eyes. People hate her, because people know who her father is. If I hadn't let her fight, she never would have found out. I couldn't tell anyone this. Even if I try not to think about all of this, it all just comes to mind unexpectedly. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!"
"If (y/n) was unhappy or blamed you for anything, she wouldn't have chosen to become close to you, Kacchan!"
(Y/n) watched from an alleyway as Bakugo wiped his final tears and ran in to continue the fight. Izuku was able to get in a good kick and the two boys resumed their fighting, damaging the area around them. The two boys suddenly became much more powerful and serious in their fight for a few minutes, before (y/n) could no longer bear to watch.
"LIKE HELL I'D LOSE!" Bakugo screamed, striking Midoriya down into the ground. "I'll win... against All Might's power. The power you made your own."
Bakugo landed beside him and pinned him to the ground, his grip tight and painful. (Y/n) quietly approached the boy from behind, placing her hands on his shoulders.
"That's more than enough, Katsuki." She spoke lowly. He knew exactly who it was behind him. She felt his body relax under her touch. "You're still hurting him."
Bakugo watched as the city around them began restoring into its original state, clearly the girl's doing.
"You really are an idiot." She mumbled, pulling him by the hair to stand up. Pulling out a tissue from her pocket, she wiped away the blood that fell from his nose and held the tissue against his chest, before leaving him to check on Midoriya.
She sat on the ground besides Deku, comforting him and tending to his wounds.
"Do you not think that I feel the same way as you, Katsuki?" (Y/n) questioned, her voice a sad whisper. "We were both kidnapped. If we weren't, then All Might never would have lost his power. I gave up and considered becoming a villain. I don't give a shit about what people think about me and my dad. I'm just afraid. Afraid that one day, I'll become like him. Like the power I have will work against me. And now, everyday, I fear that the people around me, that I care and love, are going to suffer because of me. One by one, people around me are dying. Hitomi, Aizawa's mother, Akira, my old landlady - and it's all my fault. I might look happy and strong to you, but.."
She looked up at the ash-blonde boy, her eyes full of tears as she tried her best to smile.
"I'm scared." She sobbed. "I'm really scared."
Bakugo helped the girl up and pulled her into a hug, placing his chin on top of her head.
"Don't you dare feel guilty for anything, idiot" He growled, intertwining his fingers with her hair.
"The same goes for you, idiot." She cracked a small smile at the boy, until she noticed him frowning.
"Shut up." Bakugo growled. "I'm still to blame-"
Before he was able to completely finish his sentence, (y/n)'s fist had collided with his cheek.
"Fight me, Katsuki." She said. "And if I win, then you have to stop blaming yourself."
