Today seemed like it would be a beautiful day, and a beautiful day it was - well, most of it.
I woke up to the sound of the repetitive alarm tune, feeling a little bit nauseous after hearing for the first time in a while. I groaned, lifting myself up, as the springs clanged in the old mattress below me. I sat the edge of the bed, my head resting in my hands. With a sigh, I sprang up, removing the fresh uniform from the hanger. It wasn't long before I was ready, but there was still an hour before school. I checked my bag multiple times. I turned on my tatty phone, checking the time on the screen; only ten minutes had passed. I prepared myself for a sigh, but stopped when I heard a familiar, gentle knock at the door."Coming!" I shouted, quickly jogging to the door. There were no surprises when I opened the door. As expected, the sweet landlady was there, a suspicious smile plastered on her face.
"Good morning, (f/n), my dear!" She beamed, comfortably entering my home, without me even needing to ask.
"Good morning!" I sang back, pulling her into a soft hug. "Would you like a drink or anything to eat?"
She shook her head, declining my offer.
"I have something for you!" She revealed a cute little box, a golden bow complimenting it.
I gasped with shock, hesitating, before accepting the gift.
"B-but, why?" I asked, pulling her into a second tight hug.
"I'm so proud of you, (f/n)." She smiled. "Congratulations on getting into such a wonderful school."
"Now open it!" She giggled, impatiently shaking her arms.
I pulled the bow and lifted the top of the box, revealing a silver-coloured ring, with shining, white embellishments carefully placed all the way around. I gasped with surprise and I tried my best to hide the tears that were forming in my eyes.
"I-I can't accept this. I can't imagine how much this costed you." I stuttered, closing the box and returning the gift. The old woman gasped, shaking her head rapidly.
"No! You must accept it!" She insisted, pushing the box back towards my body. "I have one that matches!"
She lifted up her hand, wiggling her pointer finger that wore the exact same ring. I smiled at her adorable gesture and lovingly placed my hand on her shoulder. She took the box from my hand and opened it once again, removing it and placing it on my index finger.
"Thank you so much." I said, my voice full of gratefulness. We held each other's hands and I stared into her sweet, wrinkled eyes with love.
We were taken out of our trance when she let go, her body showing signs of panic.
"Look at the time! You'll be late! I didn't make you breakfast! I didn't make you lunch either!" She gasped, looking left and right.
"Oh, right!" I gasped too, picking up my bag. I placed a kiss on her forehead. "I'll be fine!"
I grabbed an apple from the table and ran. Gasping, I took another bite from the apple, almost choking from the speed. I entered the school premises for the first time, following the map on my phone exactly. I entered the building and walked around the halls, searching for the correct classroom. It didn't take long to notice the name '1-A' written on the door. Nervously, I pushed it open, revealing the classroom that was around three-quarters full.
"H-hot. S-so hot!" A small boy whispered to his friends. They whipped their heads around, examining me.
I blushed, as I scratched the back of my neck.
"H-hi! I'm (f/n)!" I smiled and waved at my new classmates. My eyes widened at the response of the students. They waved back, some taking the effort to approach me.
