Beach Days

The group all head into their cars and start droving to the Undersee's Malibu beach house. Basically all the couples ride together and the single people all ride in Finnick's car. Cato and Clove ride in Cato's royal blue Cadillac CTS, Marvel and Glimmer ride in Marvel's blood red Mercedes-Benz CLA 250, Gale and Madge are in Madge's light blue Toyota Prius, and Finnick, Annie, and Peeta are in Finnick's dark green Ford Mustang.

When they get there, after taking a few breaks for lunch, they run in to claim rooms. They choose to spice things up and have Clove and Glimmer share a room, Annie and Madge share a room, Cato and Gale share a room, and Marvel, Finnick, and Peeta share a room.

"This is SO NOT FAIR! Why can't I share a room with Cato!?" Clove shouts.

"Yeah, I want to share with Marvel!" Glimmer agrees.

"Clove, Glimmer, we discussed this on the way here! And besides, at least there are only two of you in a room! I'm in a room with two idiots!" Peeta tells them.

Clove huffs at this and Glimmer pouts. Cato and Marvel go over to their girlfriends and hug and give them little kisses.

"We can always sneak out or find a secret spot, babe," Marvel whispers to Glimmer.

"Clo, we're just staying for the weekend. And my dad is playing in Green Bay and my mom went with him so we'll have the house to ourselves this weekend," Cato tells Clove.

Both girls noticeably brighten up after this and the group decides to head down to the beach and have a barbecue afterwards.

As the boys are having a beach football game, Gale throws the ball deep to Peeta and Peeta, not looking where he's going, runs into someone. As he gets back up he notices her on the ground and immediately starts helping her up.

"Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! I didn't see you there and just ran into you! I should've been looking where I was going but I wasn't and I knocked you over! Are you hurt? Are you ok?" Peeta rambles on to the girl.

She laughs and says, "Don't worry, I'm ok. That fall was nothing compared to last soccer season with all the pushing. I'm Katniss by the way, Katniss Everdeen."

"Well pleasure to meet you Katniss. I'm Peeta, Peeta Mellark," Peeta says, imitating her.

"So are you from here, Peeta Mellark?" Katniss asks.

"No, I'm actually from Venice Beach. And I typically go by Peeta," Peeta says while laughing.

"Really!? I just moved there! My mom and step-dad brought me and my sister here to Malibu to "unwind" before the school year starts!" Katniss says excitedly.

"What grade will you be in? My friends and I are all going to be seniors," Peeta tells her.

"No way! I'm gonna be a senior too!" Katniss tells him.

"You should come join us! We came here for the weekend because one of our friends has a beach house here! We were gonna have a barbecue afterwards too!" Peeta tells her.

"Why not!? I'd love to know a few people before the school year starts!" Katniss replies.

Peeta takes her over to the group where the boys are still playing football and the girls are all suntanning. None of them take notice of Peeta and Katniss until Madge turns to tell Clove something and sees them.

"Well, well, well Peeta! Who is she?" Madge asks.

"Literally just met her, Madge. But, gang, this is Katniss Everdeen. Katniss, this is the gang!" Peeta says.

"Hey! So what are you guys' names?" Katniss asks.

Clove tells everyone's names, albeit with a few unique descriptions. "I'm Clove, the best of us. Cato is the blue eyed, blonde haired, and crazy sexy guy who also happens to be my boyfriend. The girl who looks like she could be his twin is Glimmer and her boyfriend is the brown haired lanky guy. His name is Marvel. The brooding one"

Clove is interrupted by Gale.

"I do not brood!" Gale tells them all.

"Babe, that's a lie and you know it. But I still love you," Madge says with a smile.

"Aw, love you too, Madgey-poo," Gale replies back.

"Ok, back to everyone! "Madgey-poo" is the blonde with hazel eyes. The swimmer looking guy with bronze hair and green eyes is Finnick and the chick with red hair and brown eyes is Annie! So now you've met everyone!" Clove says happily.

"And you guys are all from Venice Beach?" Katniss asks.

"Yep! That's actually how we all met," Gale replies.

"So, how did you guys meet?" Katniss asks.

"Well, Clove and I had known each other since we were about three years old because we were neighbors. Then, when we all had the same teacher in third grade, we all just bonded! Marvel and I got together at the end of our sophomore year and Cato and Clove have been together since eighth grade formal. Also, Gale finally got the balls to ask Madge out our junior year for homecoming!" Glimmer tells Katniss.

"Damn, you guys are super close then, huh?" Katniss asks.

"We're the closest group of friends at Panem High!" Madge tells her.

"Well, it was cool meeting you guys but I should probably get back to my family," Katniss tells them.

"Could you stay a little longer? We were planning on having a barbecue soon," Annie tells her.

"I don't think so, sorry. My parents want us to leave so we can unpack the house," Katniss tells them, sadly.

"Oh, well that's too bad. Maybe we'll see you around sometime though," Peeta says.

"Hopefully," Katniss says. "Well then, bye."

The group all wave goodbye to Katniss as she jogs back to her family.

"Well that was certainly interesting," Cato remarks.

"What was?" Finnick asks.

"Did you not see the way Peeta here was staring at her!?" Cato asks incredulously.

"He was?" Gale asks confusedly.

"Oh, he definitely was. I think someone here has a little crush," Cato says with a smirk.

Throughout this whole conversation, Peeta hasn't heard a word. He's been too busy staring at Katniss and her family. Cato might be right and Peeta does have a crush.
