It's Mittens' birthday and she's really excited. So the friends are gonna throw her a surprise party! Shh! Don't tell her. It's a surprise.
--------------------
Puss came running in the living room, all excited, to tell his friends something good. "Guys! Guess what?" He said. It got his friends attention.

"What is it, Puss? You seem to excited." Roddy said.

"That's because Bolt told me from yesterday that today is Mittens' birthday. So we're gonna throw her a surprise party. If you see her today, don't spoil the surprise we're giving her, okay?"

"Okay." The friends all said.

"Alright, now here's the plan." Puss said.

Up in Bolt, Mittens, and Rhino's room, Mittens woke up all excited and wide awake. "Bolt, Rhino, guess what day it is?" Mittens asked, growing a big smile.

"Friday?" Bolt said, half-asleep. Rhino couldn't open his eyes either.

"Besides that. It's a very special day for me."

"What is it?" Rhino asked.

"My birthday! The best day of the year!" Mittens said, all bubbly, getting out of bed.

"Oh, yeah, happy birthday, Mittens." Bolt said. He was about to go back to sleep until Mittens decided to push him out of bed.

"Yes, Happy Birthday. You know it's a little too early to be alive at the moment." Rhino said, trying to go back to sleep.

"Now come on, you two lazy butts. All I really want us to have the best birthday ever! So let's go celebrate downstairs. I bet the others already know about it now." Mittens said, as Bolt got out of bed and went over to Rhino's cage to open it up for him, picking him up before putting him in his plastic ball until all three of them went downstairs.

Once Bolt, Mittens, and Rhino came downstairs, Puss was making breakfast in the kitchen with Remy. "Hey, Puss. Hey, Remy." Mittens said.

"Good morning, Mittens." Puss and Remy both said while getting Mittens' breakfast ready.

"Hey, Puss, aren't you forgetting something?"

Puss thought for a moment and pretended to not think of Mittens' birthday today so he wouldn't ruin the surprise. "Oh, yes, grape juice. Thank you, Mittens." He said, getting the grape juice carton from the fridge as he gave it to Mittens. Mittens' smile went away until Roddy and Rita came downstairs.

"Well, we're off shopping." Rita said.

"Yeah, it's better than sitting at home all day. At least we had your parents to babysit our kids while we're out." Roddy said, playing along loudly.

Rita turned to her husband, whispering to him. "Maybe not so loudly, okay? Take it easy." She said, patting Roddy's back gently.

"Right. Excuse me."

"Are you guys buying for someone special today?" Mittens asked.

"Yeah, for Rachel and Rodney." Roddy said. Mittens' smile went away, again until Tigress and Crane arrived from the elevator.

"I think Crane and I should go for a walk around town today." Tigress said.

"Yeah, it's such a beautiful day out." Crane said.

"Hey, Tigress, Crane, don't you guys have something to say to me today?" Mittens asked.

"Oh, yeah, good morning, Mittens." Crane said. Once again, Mittens' smile went away before Kitty walked in the kitchen.

"Puss, are you and Platy ready? We gotta get going." She said.

Mittens smiled once again before she turned to Kitty. "Hey, Kitty, ever noticed something going on today?" She asked.
