A Deal with My Frenemy

"I know that I agreed to this, but this is worse than I expected," Dahyun whispered to Taehyung.

"Just bear with it, a little more," Taehyung said in between his smiles.

They were in front of their parents in a family dinner. They came from school, so they were asked to arrive together. To show that everything was going well between them, they held hands.

We are freaking holding hands. Taehyung thought.

They then bowed at their parents and greeted them.

"Aigoo. They look good together," Dahyun's mom, Kim Soo Ae, remarked.

"Well, our kids have grown out to be a handsome man and a beautiful lady," Taehyung's mom, Jihyun said, "And I think, they would make a beautiful couple."

The two mothers chortled at each other while the fathers were merely grinning

"I think they meant two handsome men," Taehyung whispered to Dahyun.

Dahyun fought the urge to roll eyes at Taehyung so she just stepped on his foot in reply.

"Ah!" Taehyung grunted.

"Yes?" Jihyun asked.

Taehyung forced a smile, "Uhm... my foot suddenly hurts."

"Oh! You have been standing there for too long, that's why. Sit here!" Dahyun's father, Dong Gun, stated.

Dahyun and Taehyung could only smile in reply as they noticed that their parents already planned for them to sit together. The two families ate together when their orders came. The parents were talking about businesses and their friends while the Dahyun and Taehyung ate quietly. However, the parents have noticed how Taehyung would automatically take the green peas that Dahyun had kept at the side of her plate.

"Some things never change," Taehyung's father, Woo Sung, commented.

The two kids then noticed that all eyes were on them. They blinked a few times in confusion and just smiled in return.

"So.. can we announce the engagement now?" Jihyun asked.

"Mom, the last time you asked was just two days ago," Taehyung answered.

"But from all I can see, you two have already processed it. You're so sweet," Jihyun argued.

"But that doesn't mean that they're ready to marry each other now," Dong Gun answered.

"Right! Thank you, dad," Dahyun said, relieved and smiling.

"Then, what do you want to do Mr. Kim?" Taehyung' father asked. Taehyung knows that when his father calls him by his last name, he was demanding for a direct answer.

"Time. We need time. We are still in the process of accepting everything," Taehyung replied, "Afterall, marriage is not a game that we could just play along and quit whenever we want to."

"Okay. We'll give you time," Woo Sung replied and Dong Gun nodded in agreement.

"Thank you," Dahyun beamed.

"But you should remember that engagement is not a game too," Woo Sung added.

"Yes," the two chorused.

The parents just smiled again and proceeded with their conversations. Dahyun and Taehyung looked at each other. Both knew that what they entered was seriously trouble and they should find a safe way out sooner or later.
