An arrow struck the side of his abdomen and he shrieked in pain.

                Pgeas.

I didn’t say another word as I pushed him off the cliff. With one last look behind, my feet acted before my mind could keep up.

                I jumped off the cliff.

We fell as arrows flew off the cliff with us.

[Harry’s POV]

                Death couldn’t be more anticlimactic.

Life didn’t flash before my eyes. Awe inspiring life changing quotes didn’t surface. It was simply a fall.

The wind. The endless drop. The thought of death. I had accepted it. I had accepted death, and how everything was at an end. I was surprisingly calm. I was spun like a foosball character, spinning like a top. I was in a spaceship in freefall, my insides blending like an uncanny smoothie. It rose. I felt like throwing up everything inside me. My skull felt so compressed it might implode any second, and the upwind was numbing, ice cold it was.

But I had accepted it. I had accepted death.

I was enjoying my last few seconds watching the blurred out film the world played before me, the cliffs in the distance, white everywhere else. I tugged out the arrow that had struck my side, red blood coating the tip. All I felt was the slight tingling of my abdomen as I dispatched the arrow, watching it disappear into thin air. Perhaps it was blood loss. Perhaps it was surrender. It was calming, surreal. A few dark spots danced across my vision, getting bigger. Blurred, the silhouettes were of winged creatures, drifting in the air. Flying, getting closer, getting bigger. Majestic winged creatures – were they Death’s chaperones, here to take me away? The creatures were everywhere, on top, beside, and all around me. They grew to a point where they looked bigger than me.

Take me, I thought, I’m ready.

But as I was spun in the air, tossed around like a doll by the unrelenting force of gravity, the creatures came clearer. They looked like the dinosaurs we encountered but, as I focused, they looked- they looked like-

One of them scooped me up on its back as I landed hard on my belly. That was what jolted me back to reality. I was going upwards now, not spinning, but riding on this creature. A sudden surge of pain from my side went through me; a deep groan. I ripped off my sleeve and pressured the wound, gritting my teeth. Then, the thought: I was flying. Riding on a… I looked down. There was enough time for me to panic but the realization hit me as quickly as panic did.

Its head turned to look at me, and its eyes caught me off guard – they were so alive, so full of emotions. I knew instantly this one was a woman. The elegant body, the armor like scales, strong yet smooth, the refined wings that kept us flying with one flap. The eyes. So human like in the most animal way possible – a color mix of blue and tawny with no whites, curiosity radiating from them. Beautiful orbs.
