So sorry this is not very good... 😕 though I hope you'll read and like it still.
Jade was nervous. Yes, she’d done krispy cake a million times and she should have perfected it, and call it an easy pie when she’s making another. This time though, she was really nervous because it has to be perfect and impressive. She’d planned to make a sculpture of the iconic Angel of the North because it looked like a giant chocolate. Not only that, it reminded her of home and she knew it would remind Perrie of it too. That was actually the main reason she was going crazy over making this cake.
She’d called on her chef friend to help her cook the mince and dumplings, which is actually an easy one for her, if she was not too focused on making that cake. She’s really gunning for anything northern to remind Perrie of what she misses. Not only the north was she missing. She was also missing the times when she and the golden headed girl spent everything together, from trips home to trips back to London.
Now she needed something to soothe her and calm her nerves, and took out some wine while she and her friend did the cooking. Her friend showed her how to mold the crispies to make the Angel’s body and though it was far from the exact projection of the statue, it looked well enough to attach the wings which she thought already looked perfect with the crisscross she designed on it.
Time seemed to pass really fast and soon a knock came on her door and she ushered her girls into her unit. She was most happy to see the youngest. They may have been with each other for the past few days but it was so much easier that she misses Perrie because that was just the way it is. No doubt because they were so much closer than the other two. Or maybe because of that certain connection that freaked them out at first and still riles up the other two. Or it is just that she and Perrie had been so distant lately.
The thought of it made her sad and so she poured another glass of wine to somehow keep her calm and away from the sad thoughts, as she also poured a glass for each of her guests.
It was too late when she realized she had not done much for the mince and dumplings, and anxiety kicked in. What if it did not have the taste of home like she had hoped it should?
It was a full relief though, when Perrie said it reminded her of home and assured her that it tasted really good, as good as her mam’s cooking.
When dessert time came, She was really excited to show off her Angel.
“The Angel Of the North!” she exclaimed as she brought the sculpture to the table. It smelled so sweet with all the chocolate, and she wished Perrie could also smell it though she saw how the blonde’s eyes widened at the sight of something of a reminder that they are northerners.
“Wow!” was all that she heard with the expression of truly awed in the blue eyes. She felt so proud of being able to get a feel of home in her culinary.
But then the sculpture leaned over and fell down, crumbling both its shape and poor Jadey’s pride.
The blue eyed girl was able to catch some of it in her palm before it completely went down the corner. It broke her heart to see the glint in Jade's eyes fade into sadness and teary.
She did all her best to get the brunette to be happy. And it was true when she said she enjoyed the entertainment brought about by the drag queen and the bingo games they played. She just can’t wipe off her mind the sadness in Jade’s eyes, knowing that the girl now thought that she was a disappointment.
She was glad though, that Jade could still smile and laugh along with the other girls. It just showed how strong and strong minded the brunette was.
After the filming crew had gone, the girls chose to stay for a bit longer, like they had done at Jesy's. This was actually normal since they considered each other sisters now. Except for her and Jade because they are soulmates more than just bandmates, lovers more than sisters. She just had been far from Jade because she had been with her family and Alex often.
It hurt her too and even more so when Jade chose to sit at the end of the couch instead of beside her or on her lap, which they always did before.
Jade on the other hand, had been trying to avoid getting close to Perrie because she felt ashamed of the crumbled statue which she could have called masterpiece and made Perrie proud of her. Like what Perrie thought, she felt like she had disappointed Perrie.
Of course, the older girls noticed the tension, so Leigh had to speak up.
“Shall we call it a wrap? I think my Andre's waiting for me now.”
Jesy agreed, hoping that Perrie would stay and talk to Jade.
But Jade ushered all three, eyes on the floor and said goodbye, closing the door as soon as they had stepped out.
She thought of cleaning the mess at her dining table before going off to rest.
She was just picking up the crumbled chocolate from the corner when she heard a knock. Leaving the mound of chocolate on the cleaning pan, she went to check whoever was knocking.
“Uhm, hi.” She greeted. “Forgot something?”
The blonde flashed her a smile and replied, “Yeah.” She pulled Jade into her and wrapped her in her arms. “I forgot to tell you how proud I am of you.” And then, she closed the door behind her.
Jade sighed, then started to sob. “You can't be. I could not make the Angel out of cake. I failed terribly.”
“shhh.”Perrie rubbed her back with her palm. “You outdone yourself, baby, and I can't get any prouder.”
Jade whimpered, pulling away to sink in the couch, eyes glued to the floor.
Perrie gently sat beside her. “Baby, that Angel, let's say was far from perfect.” She began, pulling Jade into her chest again. “But there was an angel here that is not crumbly, never fails to imbue beauty. And that is you, my love.”
Jade looked up at her teary eyed but this this time there was joy in them.
“Actually,” she whispered. “You, Perrie are my angel.”
“Awww babe.” Perrie took her chin on her forefinger before leaning in to capture her lips.
That very moment simply brought life to both. They have been longing for this, and when it came, it is something no word in the dictionary could describe.
That moment, they realized that no failure could make the other less proud of the other. They knew from that moment they were each other's angel.
