The Boy Next Door

3) New Friends

I get off the bed and I am immediately out of the party mood. I walk back downstairs with all the blaring music and I find Octavia. She is talking to a guy with a bunch of tattoos. She looked really happy and into the conversation so I walked around to try to find the only other person I knew at the party; Bellamy.

I mean, I know he said we aren't friends but it would just be talking. I glance around and I notice he is in the corner with a drink in his hand, just looking at everyone dance. I would never admit this, but Bellamy was very attractive. He looked really good just standing there. I snap out of my thoughts and walk over to him. He doesn't look at me, but he knows I'm here. "What are you doing here Princess?" "I don't know anyone else here except you and Octavia and she is talking to some guy-" "She's what?!" Bellamy says as he cuts me off. He then marches away and I'm guessing he goes to find Octavia. I feel bad because I just ratted her out to her older and obviously overprotective brother.

Not even 30 seconds later, Bellamy comes back holding Octavia's arm and says, "We're leaving." "Bell, why don't you let me do anything?"Octavia pouts. Bellamy just rolls his eyes and drags her out of the house. I follow not far behind and I relax as I leave the hot building and breathe in the fresh air. Bellamy takes us to his car and Octavia and I get into the back. We start to drive off and Octavia passes out next to me. I quietly laugh at how she is upset about leaving one minute but then passing out the next. "Hey Princess, what's your address?" Bellamy asks. "Um, I'm actually your new next door neighbor. I hear Bellamy sigh and he doesn't say anything else.

The rest of the drive was silent and we pull up in front of my house. I open the door and get out. Before I close the door, I turn back around and say, "Thank you, Bellamy. Really. For what you did tonight. I don't know what would've happened if you hadn't-" "Don't worry about it," he quickly says. I can tell he just wanted to go home, so I just smile and lightly close the door. I walk up the walkway to my house and I hear the car start and I look back once more, before walking in the house.

The next day...

I wake up to the sound of my alarm. I am not going to be late today. Yesterday was the first day of school and it was a Thursday (weird I know right). But today was Friday and then it was the weekend. Thank god. I get up and go to my closet. I throw on a random outfit and I go to the bathroom.

I head downstairs after I'm all ready and I grab breakfast. My mom still isn't here and I have time so I just decide to walk to school. I get about five minutes away from my house when I hear a car. I look back and I see that it is Bellamy driving. He pulls over and rolls down the window. Octavia is in the front seat and she says, "Hey Clarke! Why are you walking? Get in." I laugh and say sure. I jump in the back and Bellamy takes us to school.

Octavia and I head to our homeroom and she introduces me to a few other kids. "Clarke, this is Monty, Harper, and Jasper," she says. "It's nice to meet all of you," I say back. I find out Monty and Harper are dating and Jasper is Monty's best friend. Apparently, Jasper has a girlfriend named Maya who doesn't go to our school. Octavia told me she thinks she's made up but no one is exactly sure.

The bell rings and we all head to our first class. It was boring just as all classes are. Soon enough, two classes later, the bell rings and it's time for lunch. I walk with Octavia and we sit at a different table then we did yesterday. I ask her why and she said, "Well since you are new, I didn't want to overwhelm you with everyone just yet. But since you met Monty, Jasper, and Harper this morning, I figured you would be fine." I nod my head as a sign that I understand and I look up to see a big group of people walking over; three of those people were, in fact, Jasper, Harper, and Monty.

The group gets over to our table and they all sit down. Octavia is the first to speak up when she says, "Everyone, this is Clarke. Clarke this is Fox, Murphy, Raven, Finn, and Miller. You already know these three." She says as she goes from left to right. "Hey, I met you yesterday in Bio!" I point to Raven. "Yeah! Thank god I have a friend, that class is the worst," she replies. I laugh at her response. Everyone at the table seemed really nice and I was happy to know some more people.

The rest of the day went by relatively quickly and soon enough it was time to go home. I grab my bag and close my locker. As I head for the door Octavia catches up to me and says, "Are you walking home?" "Yeah," I say back. "There is no bus that goes by our street." "Well, what about your mom?" She asks. "Uh my mom is a surgeon and she is always out of town," I say. "Oh. Well, don't worry. I will have Bellamy drive you. Every day!" "Octavia, you really don't-" "No, I am not letting you walk to and from school every day. What kind of best friend would I be if I let my best friend walk every day when my more than willing brother will do it?" I laugh and say "Octavia, I don't know if Bellamy is exactly willing. He doesn't like me very much." "Oh, that's not a problem. I'll force him," she smiles. "And please, call me O. All this Octavia stuff is getting too formal for bffs," she says. "Ok O," I reply.

 We make our way over to the car where Bellamy is waiting for O, and I can see his expression go from blank to confused once he sees me. O notices and she quickly says, "Clarke will be driving with us to and from school from now on Bell, whether you like it or not." She didn't even look at him when she spoke. She just said the words and got in the car. I saw Bellamy get a look of annoyance on his face and I felt slightly guilty to know that I caused it. However, there was no way I could talk O out if this, we were new bffs after all.
