The amount of shock that coursed through my body after she said those three words was bigger than I could've imagined. The pain in her eyes was immense. Her body shook with sobs of pain. Her tears flowing freely as she gasped for air that never seemed to be enough. She tried looking at herself but it just made it worse.

She couldn't hold the tears. she turned around and held onto me for dear life. She wasn't close with her mother at all. But when someone raises you as their own. You can't help loving that person. Even when you say to yourself that you don't care about that person. You do. You really do care. The dumbest person on the planet could understand that concept. I think that's the hardest part for her. Is finally admitting that she loves her birth giver.

"It's okay baby, I'm right here." I whispered in her ear.

She cried harder into my chest sobbing uncontrollably. I couldn't say anything that would make her feel better. I couldn't do anything to make her stop crying. I started bawling my eyes out holding her. This girl had slowly but quickly become the biggest part of my life. She was beautiful, brilliant, funny, and more than I could ever ask for.

I could hear them crying from the kitchen. Hazel's mom called the house this morning thinking I was her new boyfriend. She was actually pretty rude to me when I answered. But the point is that, her mom is dying and she's still being a bitch. Hazel doesn't deserve how her mom is treating her. She's a sweet girl, with a big heart that cannot be replaced by anyone. She honestly has made a huge impact on many people's lives. Not just ours.

My phone was going off like crazy. It was my mother, I didn't have much interest of answering it. Or even reading it for that matter. Michael hasn't said a word the whole way home from the dentist. I snuck a look at the texts and I just about lost my shit right there. My mom is dying of cancer.
