When Friday finally arrived, you could practically feel the anticipation radiating through the school. It was the most awaited day of the year. Our football team would be playing against our rival school and the whole town was expected to attend.

It was the perfect opportunity for me to finally get back at Mason, after that little stunt he pulled with my soccer team the other day.

Mason's persistence had not lessened one bit, so I decided to do something radical, to get the message across. I was certain it would most definitely come back to bite me in the ass, but why would I start caring now?

Lucy and I still had a lot of preparation to do before the big game, so I met up with her and one of her cheerleader friends, Macy at her place after school. Macy was the coolest out of all Lucy's friends. She had short brown hair and had a very hippie way of dressing.

"Are you sure this whole thing isn't a little over the top, Les?" Lucy asked me worriedly.

Oh, it was very, very over the top.

"I want to make a statement, don't I?" I asked.
"You have a lot more balls than I do," Macy laughed.

Honestly, I was just as nervous as them. It was something I would usually never do. But, if it had the intended effect, I was certain that Mason Hayes would be very sorry he ever started this whole thing. And I did say I'd have some fun with him before I get to my final plan. It wasn't like I had any dignity left to spare anyway so, why the hell not?

Lucy let out a shriek, "I can't believe you actually like someone, Les! Like here I thought you were above all the lovey-dovey stuff."

It was funny the way rumors could spiral. For the past two days, the whole school had been buzzing about my presumed affections for Mason Hayes.
At first, I clenched my teeth and took it like a man, but of course, my superior temper got the better of me. So, I decided that I had enough.

If Mason wanted people buzzing about him, I'd give them something to buzz about.

I quickly pushed the guilt aside that rose at me not being honest with Lucy. I had no interest in her brother whatsoever, but she'd find that out soon enough.

"Yeah, look at me, just fawning over Mason Hayes, how absolutely cliche," I ground out, smiling through my teeth.

After spending almost the entire afternoon practicing, we finally made it to the big game. I hid my shirt under a gray jacket, while we met up with the rest of our friends.

"OMG!" Jenna squealed, "A whole two hours of watching all those hunks in their tight football pants!" I shook my head while she and Beth hooked their arms in with mine. "Oh, and then, of course, the raging party tonight!"

Shit, I completely forgot about that. Lucy would kill me if I didn't show.

"So, you ready?'' Beth asked, giving me a crooked smile. They knew all about my little plan, and oddly enough not one of them even tried talking me out of it. It would probably be the spectacle of the year, and they knew it.

Why was I doing this again?

Well, too late to wuss out now.

I left Beth and Jenna behind, following Lucy and Macy who still frantically went through all the technicalities.

Making our way to the back of the stands, we met up with the rest of the cheerleaders.

Ashley and her goons stood there sneering, she probably heard about Jake's little confession by now and wasn't too eager to help out today. The same, however, could not be said about the rest of the team. The excitement was oozing out of everyone. I guess Lucy didn't have to do as much convincing as I thought.
