Dinner with my parents was a huge blur for me, after my breakdown in the bathroom.

I composed myself nicely in front of my mother despite Lexie constantly giving me her infamous are you okay face. All I did was smile and shove food into my mouth to keep me from talking most of the dinner.

"So Kat, anything new happening in your life living in LA? Possibly a new someone?" My mom asked eyeing me with a grin on her face as she sipped her red wine slowly.

My dad let out an uncomfortable cough as he eyed my mother and drank his beer. Lexie giggled as she bit into her food and chewed eyeing me waiting for some sort of answer.

"Everything is the same. Work is good. I love it. It's just me and Vanessa." I spoke quickly as I took another bite of food to avoiding saying anything more.

"Well that's great baby. But don't forget to live a little, your still young and have so much to see and experience in life." My dad chimes in as he winks at me and I smile back.

"So I saw Vanessa's Instagram story from a few weeks ago. You guys were at a kygo party? And she was partying with ASAP rocky?!" Lexie quickly spilled the beans and my mom and dad eyed me with a huge smile.

I coughed so hard I needed to drink water quickly, giving Lexie the evil eye.

"I told you to stay off Nessa Instagram Lexie! It's not kid friendly all the time." I said as I got the food down.

She sucked her teeth rolling her eyes.

"I'm just saying. You are living a little like daddy said. I don't know why you didn't mention it. Plus Shawn Mendes was apparently there too. So did you see him? Is he as beautiful in person?" I then realized where this conversation was going and I didn't want to even engage in or speak on him.

"Ohh that Shawn Mendes boy, he's very handsome. Lexie shows me his photos all the time." My mom aimlessly chimed in, I looked at her and saw she may have had a few too many drinks of wine. I shook my head trying to hold my laughter.

My dad just watched us as he ate quietly.

"So did you meet him Kat! I need to know so I can tell everyone of my friends." Lexie eagerly asked.

"I saw him in passing Lex, I wasn't really ... focused on him. He was busy." I lied straight through my teeth.

She sighed hard and she threw her head back.

"Ughh, Kat! You met the love of my life and you didn't even think maybe .. get an autograph!" She shouted and I knew this was going to go two ways.

"I don't think that would've been the best time to do that. I was invited to the party as a plus one I wasn't really a top choice." I said quickly drinking my drink to fill the burning I suddenly held in my stomach.

I couldn't admit to anyone about what happened. Nobody would believe me anyway. I wasn't gonna spill my guts to my family about a one night stand I had with my kid sisters "love of her life".

"That's so unfair!" She pushed her chair back and slammed her fork down and stomped up stairs slamming the door hard when she reached her bedroom.

My mom just drank more wine, my dad was silent and I just looked blankly at the plate trying to figure out what the hell just happened.

"I'm gonna put the dishes in the sink mom and I'm a step out for a few." I quickly spoke not giving her a chance to answer as I quickly gathered the dishes and I headed to the kitchen.

I needed air.

Or a drink.

When I got to my room, I quickly changed in to some joggers and a oversized sweater and headed to the backyard by the water behind our house. Once I got to my favorite corner by the water there was a old bench I loved to just sit on when I was younger to get away from the chaos of the world or home.
As I sat I looked out into the dark water thanks to the beautiful night sky that graced me with so many beautiful stars.
