"Walk me home" P!nk

Joey was not planning on buying so much from the store. she had the day off and wanted to make a nice dinner for her grandfather and sister. she would have cooked last night when she and Dakota got home from the hospital, but after the pizza incident, Dakota insisted she relax for the night and they could eat whatever leftovers were still in the fridge. begrudgingly, Joey agreed as long as she could cook a nice homemade meal for the two people she loved most tonight.

that was how the girl ended up in one of the many aisles of trade fair supermarket. she had only planned on getting the ingredients she needed for Eggplant Parmesan, but as she walked down each aisle she found there was plenty of household items they were lacking. fifteen minutes into shopping and she had filled her cart with toilet paper, eggs, milk, cleaners, and a couple snacks for her sister and grandfather for during the day.

although Dakota had gotten over her cold, Dr. Hunt recommended she take the next few days easy so they agreed to have her stay home for the next day or two until she gets her strength back. then once she ready to resume her treatment, she will start going back to the hospital like she usually would.

for now she was to stay home and keep her grandfather company.

Joey decided it was time to cut off her shopping trip and head to the register to pay. before she could turn in the intersection of the aisles, a large force crashed into the side of basket. "oh  my- i'm  so sorry!" she began apologizing profusely. "I should have been looking where i was going. are you okay?" she questioned as she moved around her cart to make sure the boy she hit was okay.

he was clutching his side, a mild pain residing in the area he collided at. he perked up at the sound of Joey's voice, a sense of familiarity washing over him. his annoyed expression quickly disappeared as he looked back into her blue eyes. "Joey, hey!"

the boy bent down to retrieve the milk carton he dropped, thankfully it had not spilled, but rather only dented in the corner. normally, Peter Parker was never clumsy, or not since becoming superhuman, but Peter was in a rush to get the milk and get home. it's not that Aunt May was in desperate need for milk at that very moment, but Peter was anxious to get to his 'stark internship' and running aarons for May was only going to delay him.

"Peter?" Joey was stunned to see the boy she had only just met a few days ago standing before her. after learning about what happened in DC and her friend's near death experience, she had assumed Peter would be shaken up about the events, not smiling at her kindly. "um... what are you doing here?" she smiled back, nerves filling her chest at the thought of their last conversation.

"my Aunt May needed milk for whatever she was making, so she sent me out to get it." he raised the milk in his hands to show her proof of his presence. "you grocery shopping?" Peter mentally slapped himself at his words. of course she was shopping for groceries, why else would she be at a grocery store, idiot? he scold himself, but Joey payed no mind.

"yeah, just getting some stuff for dinner." she shrugged as she started pushing the cart to one of the registers that had no line. she noticed Peter following close, unsure how to feel about him so close to her.

"what are you gonna make?" Peter questioned, trying to continue a conversation with her. he wasn't sure if he was still trying to investigate her, or if he was genuinely interested in such a mundane topic. either way, he wanted to know more about the girl, even if it wasn't in depth as his last conversation with her was.

"Eggplant Parmesan and mushroom soup." she smiled proudly. it was one of her grandmother's recipes. she remembered her mother trying to make it for the girls once, but she ended up setting fire to the cheese and giving up. when she moved in with her grandfather, she found her grandmother's recipes as started teaching herself how to cook. she was good at it too, but time was her greatest enemy, keeping her from getting to enjoy the relaxing hobby. "It's actually Kota's favorite, so I thought I'd make it tonight." she wanted to treat both her sister and her grandfather.
