It was about fourty-five agonizing minutes until the bathroom unlocked and Hannah walked out, beaming. "Ladies, thank you for your patience. Without further ado, I now present you the brand new and improved Joelle!"
Izzy pushed Joelle out of the bathroom and all the pledges gasped. Her hair wasn't blonde. It was gray. Joelle was in tears.
"It's gray," a pledgee whispered to the girl next to her. "That's not blonde! Are they blind?"
"YOU!" Hannah shouted, startling everyone, pointing at that girl. "You just kissed goodbye to joining us. Nobody, and I mean nobody talks during hazing until they're told to. Chelsea and Nikkita, will you please escort her out of here. Now."
Chelsea and Nikkita grabbed the girl and marched her out of the room.
"And so there was twenty eight," Hannah said with a little smile. It wasn't a nice smile, either. She turned to Joelle and frowned. "Sorry to tell you this, hon, but you look awful. You're out too."
Joelle's face was a picture. Her eyes opened wide and her mouth dropped. Meghan couldn't believe how nasty this was turning out. They had ruines poor Joelle's hair and now she wasn't even getting through? This sucks.
Two more sisters escorted Joelle out of the room, and you could hear Joelle's sobbing as she was led further away.
"Oops, now there's only twenty-seven of you!" Hannah said, straightening out her robes."This final part of hazing will decide who goes and who stays. Just one little warning. Only fifteen of you will make it through tonight. Who? That's up to you. Izzy, please tell the girls what we're doing next."
Izzy saluted Hannah and all the sisters laughed. Nobody else in the room made a sound. "Right then, ladies! There's a mini bus waiting outside, in single file, get your asses down stairs and onto that bus NOW!"
Meghan fell in line with the rest of the pledgees and one by one they all made their way outside the house and onto the awaiting bus.
During the whole ride to god know's where, the entire bus was silent. Meghan even suppressed a cough that was longing to come out; she just didn't want to piss off Hannah. Meghan didn't even know why she hadn't given up and gone back to the dorms yet, these girls were nasty. She didn't want to be a part of this.
The bus came to a stop outside an abandoned looking warehouse. From what Meghan could make out, it hadn't been in use for some time, there were holes dotted on the exterier walls.
"Welcome to the final part. This is where the fun really begins," Hannah announced with a sly little giggle. "Off you go. Bethany and Tiffany, our fellow sisters, will be waiting for you at the main doors. Go, go, go!"
Meghan was last, and just as she was about to take the three little steps down off the bus, Hannah grabbed her arm. "You okay, Megs? You don't look like you're enjoying this."
Meghan turned to look at Hannah and laughed. "Enjoying? Are you serious?" She no longer cared about being in the sorority. What was happening just wasn't right. "What you're doing is vile! I mean, what you did to Joelle was cruel! You ruined the poor girl's beloved hair and then told her she wasn't getting in anyway? That's sick, Hannah."
Hannah jolted back as if Meghan had hit her. Her eyes went wide and she pursed her lips. "This is what it's like, Meghan. You just watch, tomorrow around campus you'll hear stories about what the other soroities did. Kappa Gamma Alpha are even worse. Last year, a girl died. They got her so drunk she jumped out of the third floor window of college. We are nothing like them."
Meghan looked at her closely. Hannah actually looked sincere, almost. "What's this task then? Who's going to be humiliated next?"
"Relax, Megs. It isn't as bad as you think, I promise. Come on, the rest are waiting."

Inside the warehouse, it was dank and cold. The pledgees all looked tired and fed up. Heck, Meghan felt exactly the same. She couldn't wait for this to be over.
"This final task isn't all that bad. What we want you all to do, is sit down amongst eachother in a circle. You will all be blindfolded," Hannah said, as the sisters walked around the circle of pledgess and blindfolded them all. "Basically, this is like Duck, Duck, Goose. You've all played that game before, right?"
There was a murmur of 'yeses' and Hannah continued. "Only, this version is slightly different. One of my sisters will run around and tap one of you on the shoulder. If you get a tap you need to get up as quietly as possible and you will be guided over to me. That's when the fun will really begin!"
And so it began. The room was eerily silent. There was a slight shuffle behind her and she felt a tap on her shoulder. Why do I have to go first? Meghan thought getting up on her feet. Someone grabbed her arm and steered her to the left.
"I'm going to take your blindfold off now," came Hannah's whisper and then the rag or whatever it was that was over Meghan's eyes fell. A table covered with a sheet stood in front of her and Meghan looked at Hannah with confusion.
"Choose your weapon," Hannah smirked, unveiling what was on the table.
Meghan looked down and frowned. There was a toilet plunger, a feather duster, a dog's toy and loads more. The item that made her take a step back was the knife. A big butcher knife. "Hannah-"
"Shh," Hannah whispered, putting a finger over her lips. "Just choose. Once you've chosen, make your way over to the circle and choose your victim. Use your chosen weapon and they have to guess what it is. If they get it right they will make it through to initiation."
Meghan chose the feather duster. She made her way over to a girl, who she remembered as Danni, and brushed the duster across the back of Danni's neck.
Danni squealed and burst out laughing. The sound was nice, comforting. Nobody had laughed once tonight.
"Guess what it is, Danni," Hannah instructed. "You have five seconds-"
"Feather duster! It's one of them cleaning things my mom uses! I'm sure it's called a feather duster!" Danni answered.
"CORRECT!" Hannah boomed and everyone applauded.

Every other girl took their turn, and already six girls had guessed wrong and were taken back to the bus. Back blindfolded, Meghan sat in the little circle awaiting for her turn to guess. It never came.
She heard a sound as if someone had tripped, then a horrid squelching sound and a gasp, and then screaming. The screams were real.
"Shit! What have you done?" Came Hannah's voice next, all panicky sounding.
Meghan tore off the blindfold and recoiled at the scene in front of her. A pledgee called Abbie who was in the circled was slouched over, her head hanging down with her hair covering her face. Another pledgee who was standing behind her was crying hysterically, her eyes wide. That's when Meghan noticed the knife. It was jutting out at an angle out of the back of Abbie's neck.
