Two days being in hospital and Meghan was discharged. She was just about able to walk, so the hospital had issued her with a pair of crutches. Her parents were walking along beside her as they left the hospital. What they didn't know was, was that she had already phoned Ben and he was waiting outside for her to drive her back to college. She knew this wasn't going to go very well, but there was no way she was going home with them.
She saw Ben leaning against his car and he smiled and waved. It was so nice to see him.
"Who's he?" Miranda asked, looking over at Ben.
"That's Ben, he's come to pick me up," Meghan answered. "Mom, I'm not coming home with you. I can walk okay. I need to do this."
"Meghan, no. We've already spoken about this," Miranda said sternly. "I suggest you say your goodbyes to your friend and get yourself in our car. Now."
"No, mom. I'm not. It's my life. I'm not arguing with you over this. Just listen to what I want for once, instead of you trying to control my life," Meghan looked at her father and he didn't say anything. He knew how much she wanted to stay. He wasn't going to stand in her way. "Look, I've made friends. Really good friends. I won't be on my own, they'll look out for me."
Miranda sighed. She glanced over at Ben, and then at Oliver, then back to Meghan. "You know I'm not happy about this, but all right. But listen to me very carefully, Meghan. If I find out anything else has happened, that will be the last straw. I'll be pulling you out of Redmond and you can find some other college. I still don't know why you didn't accept Yale-"
"I didn't accept Yale, because Redmond is where you went, mom. And that's why I want to go there." Meghan hugged her mother before she got a chance to say any more and then hobbled over to Ben.
"Not looking too bad, are you?" Ben said with a grin, helping her into his car. "How you feeling?"
"Okay. I really just want to go back to the dorm and get a good night's sleep. That hospital bed was torture," she replied, sitting down.
Her parents approached the car and Oliver kneeled down and kissed her on her forehead. "You take care of yourself, you hear me?"
"I will, dad, don't worry. The crash was an accident. It could have happened any time." She looked at her mother and held out her hand.
Miranda took it in one of hers and squeezed. She gave Meghan a kiss and nodded. "You're stubborn, you remind me of someone."
She was talking about herself, and Meghan laughed. "Like mother like daughter, huh?"
Ben started up the engine and her parents stepped back. They waved as Ben reversed and exited the parking lot.
Just then, Meghan's phone began to ring and she saw 'Hannah' on the screen. "Hey, Hannah."
"You're out if hospital, right?" Hannah said without even saying hello.
"Yeah, Ben's driving me back now. Why?"
"Come to the house. You're staying here. Your room's all ready for you. Chelsea and Nikkita went to get all of your stuff from the dorm."
"Wait, what?" Meghan said, her eyes narrowing. "When did I say I was doing that?"
"You didn't, but there's no way you're staying there, besides, if you're here, we can all look after you," Hannah replied. "See you soon."
The phone went dead and Meghan laughed bitterly to herself. She wasn't exactly angry, but she wasn't happy with this, either. They hadn't even asked her what she'd wanted. They'd just gone right ahead without her say so.
"Everything okay?" Ben asked, not taking his eyes off off the road.
Meghan nodded. "I suppose so. Change of destination, Ben. You're taking me to the Omega Phi Delta house."

As Ben pulled in front of the house, he laughed. Meghan looked over and saw all of the Omega Phi Delta girls standing on the front lawn, holding a banner that said 'Welcome Home, Megs!' Meghan smiled. Now, she hadn't been expecting this. It was actually quite nice. Hannah ran over to the car and opened the door.
"Oh, gosh. Look at you, you poor thing. Here, let me help you," Hannah went to grab Meghan's arm and as she pulled, Meghan shifted a little to quickly and a sharp pain jutted in her chest. She gasped and squeezed her eyes shut.
"Hannah, watch it," Ben said, pushing her away gently and coming to Meghan's aid. He helped her out slowly and then handed her the crutches. "You okay?"
Meghan nodded, balancing with the crutches. "I'm fine. I just want to go to sleep, that's all."
"Sorry," Hannah mumbled, looking guilty.
"It's not your fault, Han," Meghan said, giving the girl a smile. "You were only trying to help."
"Okay, do you want anything? I can make a pot of coffee and bring it up to your room, if you like?" Hannah offered.
"That'll be nice, thanks," Meghan replied.
They all made their way into the house and Meghan began to head for the stairs, but Chelsea stopped her. "No, Megs, you're not upstairs."
She pushed open a door on the right and Meghan gasped. The room she had seen upstairs was now all down here, and it had been made up beautifully.
"Wow. Who did this?" Meghan said, looking around at all the smiling faces.
"Guilty," Nikkita stepped forwards. "It was my idea, but all the girls helped. We thought it would be easier for you to be down here, so you don't have to walk up and down the stairs all the time."
"That's so thoughtful, thanks so much." Meghan hobbled into the room and the first thing she did was sit down on the bed. "I need to sleep. I'll see you all later, okay."
Chelsea shut the door and Meghan sighed, laying down. She closed her eyes and within minutes, she was fast asleep.
