The rest of the night went by in a blur. There were police everywhere and paramedics. Nobody could believe what had happened.
The girl that had accidently stabbed Abbie was Kendall Moore, and lucky enough for her, Abbie wasn't dead but she was in a critical condition. Kendall was at the side of the warehouse, sitting down with a blanket around her talking to two officers. Meghan was with the rest of the pledges at the other side, whilst Hannah and the rest of the Omega Phi Delta girls were talking to other officers.
Meghan had given her statement and was just waiting for the police to be finished with the sisters before they were allowed to go back to campus.
Around ten minutes later they were all on their way home, Kendall not included. The police had taken her in for more questionning.
"Girls, what happened tonight was a freak accident. I mean, how the hell a real knife got onto the table is beyond me. We can promise you all right now, that we placed a toy knife on that table. I have notified the police of this, and they have taken it into account. At the moment, it's pretty much touch and go for Abbie, so I'd like to have a minute silence in her honor." Hannah said, standing at the front of the bus.
Everyone grew quiet. The atmosphere was sombre. Nobody even wanted to speak.
After a minute's silence, Hannah went on. "The ladies and I have come to a decision that none of you will be leaving the haze. But, initiation will begin tomorrow afternoon. We only have two days plus the weekend to choose the five girls that will join our sorority."
Meghan couldn't fathom what she was hearing. Someone had been seriously hurt but yet Hannah was carrying on like nothing had happened.
"I'm out," Mehan spoke up. "I'm not pledging anymore. This is wrong on so many levels."
"Oh, come on, Megs! What happened was a freak accident. Hazing is the worst part. Initiation is the fun part." Hannah came up to sit on the seat in front of Meghan. "Tell you what. If you don't like what's happening tomorrow, I won't stop you from un-pledging. Okay?"
Meghan looked at Hannah. How could someone so beautiful be so evil? But, just for the benefit of the doubt, she agreed. She'd see through tomorrow. Like Hannah said, there would be no more shitty stuff they had to do. Right?

Bed hadn't felt so welcoming since she's been here, but tonight she savoured it. She just wanted to sleep and temporarily forget what had happened tonight. Once she'd gotten in, she'd noticed all of Callie's belongings were in fact gone. Even the poster of the dubstep DJ Skrillex was gone. She'd tried to phone Callie a few times but it had always gone straight to voicemail.
Closing her eyes, Meghan could feel her body giving and soon she was fast asleep.

The next day, the news of what had happened to Abbie had gotten around. But everyone carried on like normal. Meghan sat by the bay window in Elsa's Coffee Shop and took a sip of her black coffee. In an hour, she would be meeting up with the Omega Phi Delta girls and the other pledges. She wasn't looking forward to it one bit.
"Hey, you," a voice said, breaking Meghan out of her thoughts.
She looked up and saw Chuck standing there, wearing jeans and a tight fitted vest. She smiled at him. "Hi, Chuck. You okay?"
He sat down in the chair opposite her. "I heard what happened to that Abbie girl. You were there, right?" He looked at Meghan with genuine concern.
Meghan nodded. "Yeah. It was grim," she replied, finishing off her coffee. "But what Hannah told us is what's bugging me." She set down the empty mug on the formica table in front of her.
"What's that?" Chuck asked, taking a gulp from his mug.
He was very good looking. Meghan wondered if he knew why Callie had gone or if he'd heard off her.
"I don't wanna talk about that right now, but can I ask you something?" She asked, leaning towards him slightly.
"Sure, go ahead. Oh, by the way, it's a shame about Callie leaving, isn't it? I thought you two were close. She was a nice girl."
"How do you know she's gone? And what do you mean by 'I thought you two were close'? Of course we're close, we grew up together," Meghan said, a hint of anger in her tone. "What the hell are you talking about, Chuck?"
Chuck held his hand up in defense. "Wow, chill! She text me last night saying she was leaving because you and her had had a huge fight."
Meghan slumped back into the plastic chair. Why would Callie say something like that? They'd made up the night before at the Omega Phi Delta's house, and then she had disappeared. Why would Callie lie? She just didn't get it.
Meghan's phone started to buzz and she leaned forward to look at it's lit up screen. 'Callie♡' was phoning her. She answered it and barked down the phone. "Where the hell are you, Callie?"
A voice that was not Callie's spoke. "Hello, Meghan. Callie can't talk right now. She's tied up and gagged. If you ever want to see her again, you'll stay away from initiaton today. It's up to you." The phone clicked. They had hung up.
Meghan stared at Chuck, not able to speak. All that was racing around in her head were three little words.
What the fuck?
