Chapter 19

Kurt's POV

I can't believe Finn's been in a car accident. I hope he's okay because he is apart of so many of our lives.

I grab my jacket which is hanging on the back of my door and run downstairs to grab my car keys and my phone.

Just when I'm about to open the front door and leave the house, I get stopped by my dad and Carole.

"Hey Son, where are you going at this time?" My dad asks turning around while sitting on the sofa.

"Urm I.. I left my Maths textbook at Rachel's house and I need to grab it" I lie. I don't want to tell them until I know how bad Finn is. I know they'll hate me when I have to tell them but I'm doing it for them.

My dad hesitantly nods which signals for me to leave. I swing the door open and run to my car and quickly open the door and start the engine to get to Rachel's house as fast as I can.

(10 minutes later)

Going faster than the average speed limit I finally arrive at Rachel's house only to find her crying her eyes out on the steps. In a quick motion I park my car onto their drive and run over to where Rachel is sitting.

I lean down to her level and begin to rub her back.

"Are you ready to go?" I ask sympathetically. I can tell I won't get any replies. She nods at me and slowly begins to stand up. I take her hand as support as we walk to my car to make our way to the hospital.

During the car ride to the hospital it is completely silent and neither of us say or attempt to say anything. I don't think Rachel will tell me what happened.

I'm honestly so scared and worried about Finn, but I know what Finn would want me to do and that's to be strong for Rachel and that's what I'm going to do.

(15 minutes later)

As I jump out the drivers side of the car and run over to the passengers side were Rachel is slowly getting out of. She slams the door shut and we begin to walk towards the hospital entrance.

Thinking we were going to go straight in to the hospital I carry on walking only to find Rachel has stopped just in front of it. I walk back so that I'm standing in front of her.

"I promise that he'll be fine Rach" I say reassuringly. I wasn't just trying to reassure her, I'm trying to reassure myself.

I take her hand and squeeze it so that she knows that I'm supporting her all the way.

Hand in hand we walk towards the reception desk. Once we get there I look at Rachel to see if she will talk but she is just looking at the floor.

"Hi, Can you tell me where Finn Hudson is? I'm his brother and this is his fiancé" I tell the receptionist.

"Room 247" She replies. I lead Rachel to the elevator. I can tell she is zoned out.

After five minutes of trying to find where Finn's room is we find out and are waiting outside.

"You ready?" I ask Rachel.

"I've got no choice.." Rachel finally speaks. I stroke her hand with my thumb and slowly open the door to reveal a battered and bruised Finn.

We haven't even stepped into the room fully and Rachel is already crying her eyes out. I let go of her hand and walk out to Finn.

There he lays with numerous tubes coming out of him. Nasty looking cuts and bruises. I take his bandaged hand and hold it in mine.

I hear footsteps come behind me and I realise it's Rachel. I lower Finn's hand so it's back on the bed and turn round to face Rachel.

"We aren't engaged.." Rachel says sounding serious.

"What?" I ask confused. I know she's shocked but seriously..

"You told the receptionist that I was his fiancé.. When I'm not" Rachel says sternly.

I take a deep breath. "Rachel.. Finn told me he was going to propose" I reply. He told me that in confidence and I've ruined it.

A smile appears on Rachel's face as she slowly walks up to Finn.

We are both surprised when a doctor comes running into the room.

"Hello, I'm Doctor Knight.. I'm Finn's doctor" The Doctor says to us.

"How is he doing?" Rachel blurts out.

"I'm sorry Miss Berry, but Finn isn't going to make it"
