Hot tears ran down my face, remembering that day.
The day I left, they day I ran away.
Ten years ago.
I waited in those cold woods all night, waiting for someone that never came.
I don't like to think about all that happened traveling from there to here, in Alabama.
I sighed, lifting myself up on the creaky bed and stretching my arms above my head.
I rolled out of bed, grabbing my phone smiling at the text from Rodney, my boyfriend.
"Hey Lyne! Get your cute little butt out of bed! I'll pick you up in 20, I miss you :) "
He sent that message.... 10 minutes ago.... Crap!
I turned and ran into my closet, grabbing random jeans and a shirt and slipping them on quickly.
I stopped at my mirror, brushing two strokes of my jet black mascara onto my lashes.
A car horn honked in the driveway, I slung my bag over my shoulder and ran out to the truck, hauling myself into the seat and turning to give Rodney a quick peck.
We drove in silence for a while until our song came on.
"You've got that one thing!"
Rodney sang, pointing at me and winking.
We parked at the school, and I sang the next part, pointing at Rodney as I sang
"So get up , get up, get out of my head, and fall into my arms instead."
I laughed as he got out of the truck and started clapping loudly, drawing some attention to us.
"Bravo! Bravo!" He clapped again, as I bowed dramatically.
I giggled, turning and grabbing his hand, twirling myself in a circle.
"LYNNE!"
A voice squealed from the school.
I turned, pulling Rodney's hand so his arm was draped around my shoulders, and faced the voice.
"Nevaeh!"
I grabbed her soft hand and hugged her, jumping in circles.
"Oh gosh, I haven't seen you in weeks!"
I sighed dramatically, shaking my head with a small smile tugging at my lips.
Rodney wrapped his arms around my waist, placing his head onto my shoulder while I walked next to Nevaeh towards the school.

"Awe, c'mon miss Reed, we aint done anything wrong?"
I bit my lip, trying to hold back a giggle.
"Mr. Howard, you know darn well PDA is against school rules."
Mrs. Reed sighed, shaking her head at us and smiling softly.
"This time I'll let it slide, but next time I'll have to call your momma."
Rodney smiled, looking down at me and winking.
"Yes ma'am."
She smiled again and rolled her eyes at us.
"Now get to class, before I have a change of heart!"
She shooed us away, and I turned to Rodney, grabbing his dirty gator cap and placing it onto my head.
He smiled and looked down at me, kissing my forehead.
