Define Life.

Ch. 10.

"Where were you?" 

"You've been gone all day!"

"We were worried!!"

Jared and Rick fired question after question at me while Maria slept on the couch, cradling Erin to her.

"Guys, stop. How about you just shut your big mouthes and let her talk?" naveah stood with her hands on her hips, her eyebrows scrunched up in annoyance.

She rolled her eyes at the two men and turned towards me "Jeez, such boys. Anyways, tell me what happened honey?"

I sighed, thinking of a lie.

"I went to go see my aunt..."

I bit my lip, looking down at the ground and wringing my hands.

"...And?" Jared pressed, bring my head back up.

I sighed, not being able to think of a good lie in time.

"She wasn't there."

Rick nodded for me to continue.

I sighed again, finally having a lie come to me.

"Her boyfriend was there, and he was being a total jerk so I kicked him in his family jewels..."

Jared frowned, taking a step away from me, causing Rick to snicker.

"As I was saying," I shot a glare at Jared. "I kicked him, then he took off, so I cornered him and was asking him where my aunt was."

They nodded, for me to continue, but I had already forgotten the rest of my brilliant lie.

"That's it."

They frowned, Naveah grabbing my arm and pulling me into the next room.

"Okay, now what really happened?"

I told her the whole sotry, I always told Naveah everything.

She was angry at the end, but 'Awwd' when I came to the part where Lucas remembered everything about me.

Someone knowcked on the door of the hotel room, and we both turned and looked at it.

"I got it!" Jared yelled, swinging open the door casually.

His casual demeanor dropped the moment he saw who was on the other sid of the door.

Stupid, Stupid me,  how could I have forgotten that Jared and Rick knew what Lucas looked like??

How did I forget that they were freaking cops?

Lucas turned and started walking towards me, Jared's face holding no emotion.

"Come one, Lynne, it's time to go."

Lucas said, pulling me towarsd the door.

Maria had woken up and so had Erin, both of them looking at Lucas with fear filled eyes.

I was letting him drag me out the door, with what he had become, It would be safer for everyone if I just went quietly.

Naveah, of course, had to ruin that plan.

"Let her go! Let her go you stupid, big thing! Leave here here! Let my bestfriend go!"

With every two or three words, she would pound her fist on his back, but Lucas continued to drag me to the door.

I still don't understand how he got to me so fast, but it's taking so long to get to the door.

Maria jumped off the couch, grabbing Erin's arm and pulling him to one of the rooms.

Erin was crying so loud, my head was starting to throb. 

Lucas shoved Naveah out of the way, throwing me onto his shoulder and walking out the door and down the hall.

"You never should've left me, Lynne." He whispered, into my ear, jogging to the stairs

I could hear the threatining way his voice shook.

"Lucas, please just leave my friends alone. I'll do whatever you want, Just leave my friends and the kids alone."

He continued jogging down the stairs, and laughed, "By the way, what were you doing with two other guys?"

"That's very... naughty of you."

I shook my head weakly, anger pulsing through my veins.

Did he honestly think he had some sort of control over me? Did he serioulsy think he could tell me what to do? We aren't friends anymore.

"Lynne?"

I heard him calling me, but I refused to show him that he had any effect over me.

"Lynne?" He asked again.

"My name is Karolyne."

 I was suprised to hear how emotionless my voice sounded.

"Okay well my bad, Karolyne, I was just telling you about where we're going."

I bit my lip, trying to decide if it was important enough to know where we were going.

"Well, like I was saying,  We're gooing to my house, where you will help decide Daniel's... punishment."

Daniel's punishment...?

Oh, because he tried to rape me.

"If I remember correctly, you were about to get in on that action before you knew who I was."

I bitterly spat, not daring to turn and face him.

Lucas stopped walking, pulling me to a stop and pushing me against the wal.

"Listen, I didn't know it was you. If I did, I would've..."

A vein was pulsing in his forehead, and without thinking I reached out and touched it.

I pulled my hand back like I burned it, Lucas' eyes flying open.

"I- I was going to kill him, Lynne."

My breath was stuck in my throat. I didn't remember anything, I remember being hot and scared, and waking up in Lucas' house.

"When I realized who you were," he paused, closing his eyes and breathing heavily,

He turned so that his back was against the wall, and he was next to me.

"After you said.. what you said, I was trying so hard to figure out who you were."

"Then.... I saw the scar under your eye," H ereached and stroked my cheek with his index finger. "I knew exactly who you were, and I remembered when you got that scar."

"But I was so caught up in those memories, that I forgot Daniel was in the room. He had taken off your shirt, and was trying to take off your bra. I was so angry, I saw red, my whole body was pulsing, I could feel it. I had shoved Daniel away from you and taken you to my house, where you would be gaurded by my most loyal men."

I listened to him, the anger slowly dissapearing from my body, as I scooted closer to him.

"You're lucky I've never been able to hold a grudge," I muttered, leaning my head against his shoulder. "Or else I would really hate you right now."

He smiled, massaging my hand with his thumb. "So does that mean I'm forgiven?"

I nodded slowly, "Not fully forgiven, but we can be friends."

He smiled, the dimples in his cheeks making him even more attractive to me.
