*Maria's POV*
I held Erin closely to me, watching as two girl and a boy stepped out of the train station, the boy lugging bottles of waer, Erin looked up at me and frowned, pointing silently at the water and coughing like he had all night.
I cringed, knowing that he would need medical help soon, with the horrible cough he had going on, maybe if our friend was still with us, he would help me find a doctor. I turned, looking around us, my eyes lingering on the girls and boy once again. The girl with the long dark hair was frowning, looking at me and Erin curiously.
I shivered, thinking about how our friend, who told us to call him Pulga, was supposed to be here already with the promised medicine. I shook my head shaking away the thoughts, the way I had let my guard down and trusted someone. I turned, wearily looking for the girl with the long dark hair. She was staring intentley at us, Me and Erin.
I scowled at her, but my mouth watered at the thought of the food they were handing out.
She began to walk towards us, waters and another drink in her hands, motioning for the other girl to stay there.
Sh esaid something in English, and I could only catch a few words. I shook my head, frowning and pulling Erin closer to me. She looked down, noticing Erin, and handed me a water bottle.
I opened it eagerly, lifting up Erin's head and tilting it slightly so he could get some.
His frail hands clutched the water bottle and drank it quickly, coughing and sputtering noicely.
the girl smiled sadly and turned to me. "Is he your little brother?"
She asked me, this time in Spanish.
I nodded, lifting up Erin and patting his back.
"Look up." I encouraged.
The girl laughed and handed me the another water bottle and the other three bottles she had brought.
SShe pointed to the blue bottle. "these are good for you, they give you energy when you can't find food, save them for when you need them.
Erin coughed quietly, covering his mouth as it turned into a hoarse throaty fit of coughs.
The girl frowned, rubbing his shoulder comfortingly.
"Wher edo you live?" She asked, looking around, probably for mami or papi.
"Here." I whispered, pointing to the bushes behind us.
She nodded sadly and asked about our parents.
"They died."
She turned and motioned for her friend to brign her some food.
She turned and yelled something to her in English and turned back to me, smiling.
"What's your name?" She asked, smiling and rubbing my shoulder like she did Erin's
I pushed her hand off of me, I wasn't weak like Erin, I didn't need her to think so.
I pushed out my lip defiantly and jutted out my chin. "Maria." I answered, pulling Erin away from her and closer to me.
She laughed quietly and nodded to her car.
"Come one, Maria, I'm going to take you somewhere safe."
I nodded, lifting up Erin and trying to drag him along with us.
She turned, motioning for the boy to come closer, and pointing at Erin.
"Rick" was the only world I caught, and I'm guessing it was his name.
He smiled, nodding and reaching for him.
He tried to grab Erin but I kicked him in the leg and pulled Erin closer to me.
The girl with the long hair laughed and turned, pulling Erin out of my grasp and holding him.
Not knowing what else to do, I grabbed her hand and let her lead me to wherever she was taking Erin.
