          Prologue :
Life's not fair.
Everyone has a soul mate. Someone they deeply love both ways. Fantine thought she had found her soul mate but she never did. The man she thought was her soul mate turned out to be a liar, a coward, a cheat, a something I'd rather not write. But he was also father to her daughter.

Everyone found Fantine really pretty. She had long blonde hair, shiny blue eyes and teeth that glowed like the moonlight.

He even told her that he wanted to spend the rest of his life beside her. But he didn't speak true because on one sad, sad day He abated Fantine and left her with nothing but a daughter. Fantine new she had to go to work, but where would her daughter live when she was away at work? After walking miles, Fantine finally found a nice family for her to stay with, and from then on, Fantine new that life was not fair.

Chapter 1:
Fantine the virgin.
Now Fantine had found a nice home for Cosette, she could finally look for work. She did eventually find what she was looking for. It was a jewellery making factory, that paid ten franks every month. The boss of the factory was also the mayor. Fantine came into his factory and practically begged him to let her work there. The foreman of the factory quite liked Fantine's looks, and when he asked her if she had any children, he was astonished to hear that she didn't have any. Of course she did, but she thought told him that he'd make up some lame excuse and fire her. So she told him, and everyone else at the factory, that she was a virgin.

Life went on like this for Fantine, and although she hated him for doing what he did, she never forgot the man who she fell in love with, all those years ago.

                                         Chapter 2:
                             Fantine's terrible secret
Fantine knew they'd find  out soon, but she didn't know when and hoped it wasn't soon, so when she received a letter from the family Cosette was living with she knew her luck was changing. It was now ten
years later and Fantine had managed to keep her little secret, but not for long.
"A letter for you, Madame, you must be popular." The foreman said, handing her a note.
"Got a secret admirer, Fantine?" One of the factory girls teased her.
"What does it say?" Another Asked.
"It's not important." Fantine told her.
"If it's not Important, why don't you read it out?" The First Lady Said.
Fantine shook her head.
"Fine," The second one announced, taking the letter out of her hand "I'll read it... dear Fantine, you must send us more money, your child needs a doctor there's no time to loose. Your child?"
"Your child?" The foreman repeated.
"Fantine does have a child after all. And the person who's looking after her wants money. You know what that means? She sleeps around." The  factory women explained to the foreman.
"No! Well, yes the child is mine, but I don't sleep around! She just lives with an innkeeper and his wife while I'm at work, so what?" Fantine tried to tell him, but he wouldn't listen.
"How do I know you're not  lying to me?" The  foreman asked.

He took her to the mayor to decide her fate. He decided in the end to fire her. Fantine was left on the streets all alone. How was she gonna save her daughter now?
Then a memory popped into her head. "You know what that means? She sleeps around" Fantine new what she had to do...

                                              Chapter 3:
                            Fantine arrested/ Fantine forgiven

It was a couple of days later and the mayor was walking the streets of France, when he saw a familiar face. It was Fantine. Although she looked completely different; her long blonde hair had been yanked out of her head and blood covered her face. It was obvious she had become prostitute (someone who has sex for money). She also was being arrested by the  chief police, Jeavet. Apparently she had attacked a passing stranger, but The Mayor didn't think this true, Fantine wasn't like that, so he said, "I saw it all. Fantine was doing right. Let her go."
Jeavet was puzzled by this but did as the mayor commanded.
"Where did you get all this money? I know your hair has been sold.  But 60 franks for just hair?" He Asked her.
Fantine shook her head, tears filling her swollen eyes . "I got them." She Said revelling a darkish hole in her mouth, where two of the glowing white front teeth had been taken out.

Chapter 4:
The mayors promise
The mayor took Fantine to the hospital and the next day Fantine realised who had brought her there. So when he walked into her hospital room she shouted, "YOU MOSTER! You fired me for not doing anything! I needed money for my daughter! She's SICK! IF YOU'D LET A POOR CHILD DIE?" And at that she spat in his face.
"You are right, I was in the wrong. But Fantine, will you forgive me if I say that when you are gone, I shall take Cosette into my care?" (He knew Cosette's name because all of last night, Fantine repeated her name.)
"Oh! You good, good mouser! Oh! You good good man! You must come from God!" And then Fantine died, knowing that Cosette would be in good hands.
