As I crawled through the deep sewers. Hoping to be unseen by any foot soldiers that might happen to appear and try to capture me. I had suddenly realized one key factor about saving my brothers. How in the shell was I going to break in to the shredder's lair and find them? I knew they were there but I didn't know exactly where. I stopped to think for a minute. Maybe he had holding cells where he kept prisoners and other un loyal people. Or even worse. What if they were under tests and he was experimenting on them. De shelling them all. One by one. So slowly that the pain was so unbearable that they begged for death. I couldn't think about that any longer. For, I started to tear up. And I had to find a way in, so I could break them out. I kept walking. Then I saw some light coming through a little crack. I started to break it open. It took several minutes but I finally did it. I saw a foot soldiers feet pass by me so I knew I was in the right place. It looked like a detention center. I didn't break a hole big enough for me to get through. I had to make the hole bigger. I also had to do this quickly because I heard somebody say, "hurry! This way!" It must have been a foot soldier. But I didn't know if it was coming from the surface or from the sewers. I hurried and broke more of the floor. I climbed up. And ran into a darkened corner. It seemed foot soldiers were coming from both the sewers and the surface. They looked high and low for me. But the could not find me. I breathed a sigh of relief as they left. A roach ran over my foot. Good thing I'm not afraid of roaches or I would have alerted the foot soldiers for sure.

I tiptoed as quietly as possible through the detention center. The cells looked old and rusty. The doors didn't even have windows on them. Just piles of what looked to be human bones, piles of old blood. Roaches and rats everywhere. My brothers would not survive here. I know they had to be scared, especially Mikey. He had to be having a panic attack, maybe several. As I went through the detention center, I peeked around the corner for any foot soldiers. None to be seen. So I started to walk through the center. I heard what seemed to be Mikey's voice. My face lit up with joy. I couldn't believe it! I had found them! Or at least one of them. But when I opened the door. I quickly slammed it back because Mikey ran at me with blood running down his face. Not just that. Cuts on his legs. They had removed all his gear, took his weapons. And his eyes were pure black. Slobber dripped down from his mouth. And instead of fingers. He had claws. And for the brief two seconds I saw him and the inside of his chamber. I think I might have seen flesh under them. What had they done to my brother?! Leo and raph were probably just as bad. I had to run away. But I just couldn't move. All I could do is stand there. Stand there I shock. Something had possessed my brother. Something far beyond this world. But I had to know. Could I cure it? And were Leo and raph infected too?

I had to snap out of it. So I could find Leo and raph. It was extremely hard for me to do. But I did. I heard screaming coming from down the hall. It had to be one of them. I ran down the hall to find them both. They sat on opposite sides of a room. A see through room. It was glass. I was right, they were experimenting on them. But nothing like I had ever seen in all of my years as a mutant. I watched In horror.

They were both chained up on each side of the room. Raph on one side, Leo on the other. Their hands were tied behind their shells. And they were bound to the wall. They couldn't move. Yet, they tried their best to break free. They were even scarier than Mikey. They had the same features though. Black eyes. Claws for fingers. Horror stricken. Sharp teeth. Blood dripping down their cheeks. Cuts on their legs. What had happened? As I wondered, the light above me flickered and then burst and went out. One of my brothers escaped the glass room. I didn't know which but that is because I couldn't see. I knew I had to run. No matter how much I loved my brothers. I had to run for my life. Run through this dark and depressing surface world detention center. I heard my brother sniff the air. He caught sight of me. He smiled, showed his teeth at me and ran.

He ran after me like a lion chasing a gazelle. I don't think I had ever ran this fast in my life. Blood trickled down his face as he ran behind me. It left a blood trail for my other brothers to follow. Soon, I would have all three following me. I didn't know if I would escape. But I had to. I had to remember how to get out of here. I ran back around the corner where I had came from. I jumped through the hole and I would lose them in the sewers.

This virus that attacked them must have been very dangerous to their minds because they sniffed me out like a dog. They continued to search for me in the sewers but because of all the odor, they couldn't reach my smell specifically. Thank you, horrible sewer smell. I ran back to the lair to find April up and eating breakfast. She said, "dang, Donnie. Seen a ghost lately?" I must have been really pale. I said "no." I tried to play it cool. But it didn't work. I just went to my lab. I knew I had damage to not only my weapon but myself as well. A piece of my staff had been broken off and my mask was almost torn to shreds. I had to have a mask! But then I remembered. Master splinter kept one extra mask in his room. It was always intentionally for his daughter but I had to is it now. It was silver. It shone as bright as the sun. But could be as dark as the night sky. I knew I had to make a new identity. My name would always be donatello. But because of this mask. Because my brothers had been infected. I was the only one to protect New York. I was the only one to protect April. At that moment, I became the silver spirit.
