Janine and I are sisters. Well, to be more specific, we are identical twin sisters. Sometimes there were downsides to having your sister work in the same lab as you...
"Janine!" a voice called, scaring the crap out of me.
"Victor!" I screamed, at my twin's boyfriend.
"Janine!" he called again. He tried to hug me from behind. With a quick move I turned around and kicked him. He went flying backwards into the computer chair.
"Sorry Fi, thought you were Janine." Victor said, getting up.
"Sorry Victor, but have you not realized that I’m too tall and skinny for Janine?" I asked.
“You are? I never realized… I thought you were always the chubby one.” Victor joked.
"Victor!" Janine squealed when she saw him. She ran up to him and hugged him. He hugged her back. Janine put on a lab coat before motioning for us to join her in the coroner's office.
"First, we have to check for injuries." Janine said stating the obvious again.
I rolled my eyes and Victor held in a laugh.
We cut open the shirt and examined his arms and upper parts of his body.
"Strangle marks on his neck." I said pointing.
"Contusion on his arm and near his chest." Janine said pointing at the dark blue and purple marks all over the torso.
"Possible that he was mugged before shot to death."
"Hey, Fiara!" Hanna, our fingerprint analyst called, signaling me over to her office.
"Be right back." I said walking out of the lab, leaving Victor and Janine to examine the body.
"Hey, Hanna. What's up?"
"The finger prints came out. The leads are to Jayne Brown, Sara Davis, and Aaron Deans." Hanna said showing me the results.
"Brown is in jail... There is no way she could have killed the victim." I said. Now that I think about it, I don't even know the victim's name.
"The victim is twenty-three year old Ivan Wills. Jayne Brown also just got let out of jail yesterday." Hanna explained as if she could read my mind. See great minds think alike.
"Ivan Wills... That name sounds really familiar." I said trying to remember where I heard the name before.
"Of course it is, Ivan Wills is the son of Dave Wills. Dave was killed last year. Now that I think about it, Dave died on the same day that Ivan died..." Hanna said.
"It is possible that there is a connection between the murder of Dane Wills and Ivan Wills." Hanna and I exclaimed at the same time.
Told you great minds think alike.
"Talking about Dave, did we find out who the murderer was?" I asked.
"Yea. Jayne Brown's older brother, Richie "Money" Brown murdered him. There is a high chance that she could have murdered Ivan." Hanna answered.
"Wait, is Brown on our list of suspects?" I asked Hanna.
"No, but your boyfriend can tell you." Hanna said pointing at Wilson.
"Wilson is not my boyfriend." I growled.
"He's a lovesick pup. Give him a chance." Hanna said with a grin.
"No."
"Hi, Hanna, Fiara." he said smiling when he said my name.
"Hi Wilson." Hanna and I said together.
"Hanna called me over before. She said you would have a lot of questions for me." Wilson said looking at Hanna.
"I do have questions. Is Jayne Brown, Sara Davis, and Aaron Deans on our suspect list?" I asked going directly to the questions.
"Yes they are. The problem is, Brown has proof that she was nowhere near the ice rink when the murder happened." Wilson said, getting down to business.
"Allies? Receipts? Where is the evidence pointing her away from the crime scene?" I asked.
"Brown was caught on a video camera in a local store twenty miles away from the crime scene with Sara Davis during the murder." Wilson explained.
"If Jayne Brown and Sara Davis were in a local store, that makes Aaron Deans our number one suspect." I said, jumping to conclusions again.
"Not exactly. Aaron Deans walked in a few minutes before the murder and they left together." Wilson said making me feel stupid for jumping to conclusions again.
“If Deans, Brown, and Davis weren't there during the murder, why would there be finger prints of all three on the victim's glasses, phone, and wallet?" I asked.
"Deans, Brown, and Davis had a fight with Wills before the murder. That was a few hours before, though."
"What about the trace evidence?" I asked Hanna, realizing that she was trying to walk away.
"The fibers that you and Heath collected will be analyzed once Warrick gets his sassy booty back to the lab." Hanna said.
"How long will that be?" This job is really fun and exciting, but it can also be very tiring, especially when you're waiting for the results.
"If you're really in a rush, Victor should be qualified to work on it." Hanna said, leaving the fingerprint room.
"Alright, see you around Hanna."
Wilson and I left the room as well. Janine and Victor suddenly appeared next to us with a few pages of results.
"How is it going?" I asked Janine.
"Seems as if the bullet comes from a .40 Beretta." Victor said, giving me the first page.
"Where is the bullet right now?"
"Fi, I got it." I turned around and saw Warrick. In his gloved hand was the bloody bullet.
"Did you get the test round yet for comparison?"
"Fi, you know that is not part of my job. I will get back to the fibers now that Wilson looks alive and healthy next to you." I turned to look at Wilson. He gave me a sheepish grin before going back to his job.
"Fi, help me with the fibers will you?" I nodded and followed Warrick to trace evidence office.
