At The Hospital

Entering the meeting room, I grabbed a chair and a dry erase marker, getting ready to fill in answers for certain questions. The rest of the team did the same.

"Clearly it is a homicide, however we don't have much on the killer yet," Heath started. “Currently we have a bullet coming from a .40 Beretta, but anyone could own a Beretta. We also have a few fibers in trace and several fingerprints.”

“A Beretta isn't uncommon, we can check online purchases as well as registered gun stores.” Janine said, listing several gun stores in the area on the board.

“Good idea, now we got to find out why Wills was involved in the fight. Did he owe people money? Did he do something illegal?” Each question was added to the board that circled the room.

“Not that we know of so far, however our friend Chase is down at the station questioning the three suspects. Also note that Ivan Wills died the day before his wedding. His fiancé is also pregnant with his child.” Wilson answered.

“As a precaution it would be best to protect the child and the mother. Do you think we can pull a few strings with Chase? Maybe get a few officers near her place?" Heath asked, pointing at Wilson's phone. Wilson nodded and called Chase.

"Hey Chase, about the Wills case, do you know if the fiancé has any sort of protection?" Wilson asked.

“No. You have got to be kidding me. We’ll be right there.” Wilson looked up with worry in his eyes. He motioned for us to go and grab our jackets.

"Janine, Victor, you two stay here to help Warrick." Heath ordered. The two of them just nodded and went back to work.

“Tell me what happened, Wilson.” Heath ordered.

"She got attacked right outside her apartment."

On our way out, Heath and I grabbed or cases while Wilson went ahead to start the car. Once heath and I jumped in the car, Wilson stomped on the gas.

“Cecelia West.” Heath said to the young nurse at the desk, pulling out his badge.

“Room 13 on the fifth floor.” The nurse said, handing us visitor passes.

We rushed into the elevator and Wilson clicked the 5th button.

“Do you know her conditions?" Heath asked.

"Not yet, Chase didn't say anything." Wilson said.

The lights flickered on the elevator. Wilson and I gave each other knowing looks. After a creaking noise the elevator stopped altogether.

"Well shoot." I said trying to pry the doors open even though I knew it wouldn't work.

“Relax, someone will get us out.” Wilson said, trying to pull me away from the door.

“Okay… but I have been pressing this emergency button for the pass I don’t know how many minutes and no one is coming.” Heath said, still pressing on the emergency button.

“You’ve got to be kidding me.” anxiety was growing on the inside with each passing second.

“HELLO? IS ANYONE IN THERE?”  A familiar voice called from the other side.

“NO! YOU IDIOT!” I screamed.

“BE QUIET FIARA OTHERWISE I WILL LEAVE YOU IN THERE!” the voice called again even though they started to pry the elevator open.

When the doors were finally opened, we were each pulled out one by one. We had actually reached halfway up to the fifth floor before the elevator broke down. I was the last one to get out, and I was lucky to even get out on time.
