I watch him as he thanks the waitress, holding a steaming mug of hot chocolate as I gaze up at him.

He's just so..... regal looking. I watch as he gives her a charming smile, his blue eyes quickly flicking from her face to her tray, ardently eyeing his coffee. She's been standing here for awhile now, making meaningless small talk.
I bite the edge of my cup a bit. It's obvious that she's into him, but he seems so oblivious to it. I guess he's the type of guy who gets too lost in his own world to notice the world around him. She flashes him a brilliant smile with her whitened teeth and bites her lip slightly. At first glance I think she's a redhead like me, but when she steps into the light I can tell that her hair is just a strawberry blonde. I glance over at Xavier anxiously, seeing if he's even the least bit interested in her. She's very attractive, and very......ahem. Robust. But even I can tell that his eyes are completely focused on the coffee, hands reaching for it like a grasping toddler. "Any cream or sugar?" she practically purrs, already reaching for the sugar on her tray. I try not to roll my eyes.

He holds up a hand, politely declining. "No thanks Lexie, I like mine black." She frowns a bit but then she nods, finally passing him his coffee. She lingers at the table for awhile longer, shooting Xavier a wistful glance before hesitantly going to serve the next table. As I take the first taste of my hot chocolate, I can't help but smile.

We chose a booth close to the windows. Xavier had let me pick, and I told him I wanted the booth because it was closer to the music, but secretly it was because it was right next to the window, and I liked watching the rain.

besides, I liked booths.

So now, as we sat silently sipping our drinks, I watched the rain through the windows. It was still coming down pretty hard. I wasn't sure how long we'd have to wait it out but with the pleasant ambience of the café and a stranger buying me drinks, I didn't mind it one bit.

"So I'm guessing you come here a lot." I say idly, letting my fingers tap against the glass of my cup. Xavier looks up at me slowly, taking a long moment to process what I said before answering, "Why do you say that?"
I shrug, leaning back on to the squishy seats. "Well, you knew the waitresses name, and you asked me if I'd been here before so..." I trail off awkwardly. He looks at me for a moment, and I can tell he's fighting back a smirk. Indignantly I glare at him, crossing my arms over my chest. "What?" I mutter self consciously.
He quickly raises his cup up to hide his face, but I can still see him smiling.

"She was wearing a name tag." He says bluntly, going full poker face as he takes a sip of his coffee.

I feel the heat rush to my face. Oh. I guess I didn't notice that. I look back out the window. I was too busy picking up on all the signals she was trying to give him. I clear my throat awkwardly, looking down at my drink. The smile tugging on his lips turns into a full grin as he witnesses my embarrassment, and I feel my face getting redder and redder. "Oh, right. I knew that." I say nonchalantly.
       "Mhmm." He quips.
Man I hate this guy.

"It's my turn to ask you a question." He says, his tone turning serious. I relax visibly, relieved to be off the topic. I raise an eyebrow. "Oh? And what might that question be?"

Fixing his somber blue gaze on me he leans forward, moving his elbows up to the table to get closer. Looking around, he gestures in a "come here" motion. Curiosity piqued, I lean in as well, meeting his intense gaze. I feel my heart speed up again for no reason. I've been super close to him before. I don't get why this time is any different. I swallow back a lump in my throat. There's still quite a distance between us, but we're close enough for me to feel the warmth radiating from his skin. I meet his gaze. The way he's looking at me makes the rest of the café fade away into a soft blur. Suddenly it's only us.
