FORKS, WASHINGTON
The Cullens didn't show up to school the few days after the incident at Bella's birthday party which left Valentina and Luka to comfort a worrying Bella.
"Hey guys..." Bella greets the couple solemnly, taking a seat next to them at the lunch table, "Have you heard from them?"
The couple shakes their head with a grim expression on their face, "We haven't, I'm sorry, Bella. We just have to hope that everything is alright, I'm sure everyone will turn up soon enough," Valentina smiles stiffly, Bella's worry rubbing off on her.
After a whole day of worried glances from Bella and the Cullens being a no show, Valentina and Luka decided that if it was something important then it would be brought up to them.
Unfortunately for them, it was important.
Valentina's eyebrows rise in shock, "What do you mean we're leaving?!"
"Edward thinks it's best if we leave Forks in order to keep Bella safe. We've tried to change his mind, but he won't budge," Emmett explain with a sigh, not liking the whole idea.
"We're going to stay with the Denali's for a little while," Alice explains.
"B-But I like Forks! I don't wanna leave, what about our home?" She never expected for something like this to happen. It was just an accident; Bella didn't blame anyone for what happened, she chose to be a part of Edward's life and they both knew it wasn't going to be easy.
"It'll be here when we come back," Emmett says softly, taking her hand.
"Luka?" She turns to him with tears in her eyes.
"This is bullshit, we shouldn't have to leave because Edward can't get his shit together," Luka almost shouts, "he's been fuckin' things up since he met Bella, if anything, he's the one that needs to leave."
Luka raising his voice was out of character, they all knew that. This situation was just completely outrageous to the vampire.
"It's not fair. It's not fair to us, it's not fair to Bella and I refuse to leave her and the home I've made here. I refuse to suffer once again at the hands of someone else. I'm not going to Alaska," Valentina shakes her head feeling absolutely torn, "I can't. I'm not running anymore."
"What about us?" Jasper asks, almost hurt.
"Stay with us, please," Valentina begs, grabbing his hands. "We're happy here. We don't have to worry about anyone. Edward is exaggerating, he's fearful for Bella, but this is the wrong way to go about it. You know I'm right; we can make sure you won't hurt anyone, Jasper."
He shakes his head with a pained look on his face, "I have to go, Valentina. I can't risk it."
The Nephalem shakes her head frantically, lips trembling, "No no no no no, please don't leave! I'm begging you, Jasper. We can work this out!"
Jasper shakes his head and pushes Valentina's hands off him before stepping out of the house. Emmett, Luka, and Valentina quickly run after him. The rest of the Cullens stand outside waiting for the four of them. "Jasper! This isn't funny. Let's just go back inside and talk things through and if you still feel like going, we can leave. We can go wherever you want!" Luka grabs him by the back of the shirt.
"I can't risk it!" Jasper turns abruptly, pushing Luka away. Luka flies away and hits the ground with a thud. Jasper looks apologetic for a moment before his eyes turn hard, "What happens next time? I can't live with myself knowing that I've almost killed someone I care about again. I don't have control over myself and if I have to leave in order to keep everyone safe, then so be it."
"Jasper, please..." Luka pleads while getting helped up by Emmett, "we can work something out, just don't leave, please..."
"What is there to work out, Luka! I'm a walking a danger, a monster..." Jasper spits out bitterly.
"You're not a monster, you're someone who's made mistakes, that's what why you feel the way you feel. Your ability to feel is what makes you human, Jasper. If anything, you're the most human of us all," Luka smiles with tears in his eyes.
There's nothing, but silence before Jasper's trembling voice speaks up, "I'm sorry..."
Sobs rack through Valentina's body as she falls to her knees. "If you leave us, I'll go back to him! I'll go back and you'll never see me again!" She threatens. Jasper stops in his tracks and for just a second, they all have hope that he'll stay, but he shakes his head before disappearing into the trees.
"Val.." Emmett whispers softly.
Valentina scrambles to her feet, hands gripping onto Emmett's jacket, "Emmett. Emmett, you can't us leave too. Please, please, please, we need you..."
"Shh, it's okay...I'm staying. I'm staying, princess. I can't leave either of you," Emmett pulls both Luka and Valentina into his arms, kissing them both on the head as a sign of reassurance.
"Emmett," Edward snaps, taking a step forward before Carlisle grabs him by the shirt, knowing it'll be dangerous for him to get close to Valentina.
"I'm not going," Emmett says firmly.
"Emmett, this is not the ti—" Edward begins.
"Go!" Emmett roars, "Maybe you can leave Bella behind, but I refuse to do the same," he glares at everyone, "just go and know that you're not welcome back. You may be my family, but you've showed us the cowards you actually. I'm disappointed in all of you."
"Edward, come.." Carlisle gentle places his hand on the his son's shoulder, sadness filling him at the words of one of his sons.
"I hope you're happy," Valentina seethes, eyes flashing between red and silver, "You better hope you never have to come back because if you do...then I'll be here to kill you."
