"Honey I'm sorry," he said firmly cupping her face "I just can't lose you..." his gaze dropped to her belly "Either of you."
⁂
AND WITH THAT, Tony kissed her softly, contrasting with the urgency of the situation.
"I'll come find you when it's over, okay?"
Angie didn't answer. All the fight she had left in her died down, though she still hated that it had come to this.
Strange made another maneuver of his hands and the rings carried Angie through the portal, right back to the Avengers facility. Before closing the portal, he produced another set of rings which he sent towards Vika.
"Bruce, no!" she struggled frantically as the rings levitated her closer to the portal.
"Vika, it's okay, please don't fight it..." Bruce pleaded, watching anxiously as she was pushed through the halo.
Strange tapped his hands together and the portal disappeared as fast as it came and with it, Vika and Angie.
"They'll be safe," he dropped, already walking back towards the giant alien which Wong was struggling to hold off.
Tony was still completely astounded by what just happened but he trailed behind Strange "Th-thank you," he managed to croak out.
"I didn't do it for you, or for her," Strange scoffed "I did it for the baby."
This probably shocked Tony more than his shoving Angie through a portal. He blinked a few times making sure he was hearing this right "How did you..."
Strange glared at him, unimpressed "I can perceive more than you can imagine. Now if you don't mind, I have a Time Stone to protect."
And with that, he turned on his heel marching resolutely back towards Thanos' minions.
"You plan on helping out Stark?"
This made Tony snap out of his thoughts and pull himself together. Worry was still tugging at his stomach but he was glad Angie was out of harm's way.
She'd be mad at him for pulling her out of a fight like that, especially one with such a personal meaning to her, but what other choice did he have?
The pregnancy had come unplanned and out of the blue. It wasn't a stretch to say neither of them knew what the hell they were doing.
Tony had always wanted to be a father of course, but this had thrown them off completely. Angie wasn't very far along but as the weeks went by, he found himself settling well with the idea of having a baby. There was a time where he wouldn't have thought he had a paternal bone in his body. But things had changed these last few years. Things had changed when Angie came back.
For Angie, on the other hand, it was a completely different story. She'd been far less enthusiastic about it. Least of all because it had been such a surprise. It skewed her entire sense of self. Mostly, the pregnancy was bringing back old anxieties, which probably explained her bizarre recurring dreams.
Coming to terms with the idea of becoming parents hadn't been smooth sailing but Tony could tell they were getting there. Everything would be okay in the end. It had to be.
⁂
Doctor Strange's portal opened straight into a building the Avengers Facility. It had been a rough landing as the rings of energy flung them onto the floor before disappearing in a puff of smoke.
Angie groaned as she hoisted herself up on her forearms. She glanced on the other side of the room. Vika was rubbing the painful ankle she'd fallen on.
