23 - REDEMPTION

ANGIE AND TONY DUCKED to avoid the projectile of an explosion nearby. Tony had his eyes riveted in the direction of the van but Angie was more worried about Peter's figure dangling in the air with the gauntlet under his arm. Her brows furrowed as she noticed him dropping from Valkyrie's Pegasus in a spot that wouldn't be too far for her to reach.

"Hey," she put her hand on Tony's wrist, stopping him from getting further "I'm going after Peter."

Tony's brows furrowed "What, why?"

"Look," she showed him Peter's figure in the distance, he was surrounded by Thanos' soldiers "He needs help."

Tony's mouth twisted "I know but..."

Angie understood he didn't like the thought of them separating. In truth, she didn't like it either but they didn't have a choice "I'll be much more useful with Peter. They only need you to open the Quantum tunnel."

Tony froze for a moment before nodding reluctantly "Alright. I trust you."

"We'll get the gauntlet and find you. Now go!"

They kissed and both darted in opposite directions. Tony towards Scott's van and Angie towards the Gauntlet.

She found Peter in the midst of a brawl with several Outriders. He was doing his best to get the Gauntlet away but his lone figure seemed incredibly meek in the face of the handful of monsters surrounding him.

"Hold on kid!"

The Harpy unsheathed her sword and planted it in the back of one of the Outriders. Peter used it as an opportunity to throw his webs, neutralizing them as Angie took them out one by one.

Once they had gotten rid of the Outriders, Angie pulled Peter away to a safer spot behind a pile of rubbles.

"Is everything okay? Are you hurt?" she asked.

Peter was panting "I'm okay... I think," he held up the Gauntlet "But most importantly, I got this thing!"

Angie chuckled "Nicely done, kid."

Just as he handed her the Gauntlet, they heard phenomenal explosions coming from above their heads. Angie and Peter looked to the sky and found all the cannons from Thanos' ships firing at one specific point in the sky.

"What is going on?!" Peter asked.

"I have no idea," Angie shook her head, just as bewildered. The fumes and fire made it impossible to distinguish what the cannons were targeting. She brought her hand to her earpiece and spoke to Tony "Tony, do you know what they're firing at?"

Tony's voice reached her from the other side of the battlefield "I'm not sure but F.R.I.D.A.Y. tells me something just entered the upper atmosphere."

Angie was about to reply when a bright light of thundering energy came surging down to the ground. It glided effortlessly though the smoke and countless flying ships. The resulting explosions made the ships crash-land right into the nearby lake.

Angie's mouth dropped. Peter seemed just as puzzled.

"Tony who the hell is that?!"

Tony's voice came lighter "Carol Danvers," he let out "Long story short, she's quite the asset."

Angie squinted to see better until she could distinguish the shimmering figure flying closer at vertiginous speed. The Harpy quickly saw this as an opportunity to get the Gauntlet faster to the Quantum Tunnel.

She spoke through the common communication line that joined all the Avengers' earpieces "Hey, I'm here with Peter. We have the Gauntlet but we need a faster way to get it to the van."
