"You really pushed her over the edge that time," Mina said, filling in the blank math problems with speed.
"Did I? Oh, I didn't notice," Sana replied smoothly. "I'm sure you didn't," Momo said sarcastically, pushing her chair back to turn in her math assignment.
"I really don't know why you all think I-" Sana's words were cut off when the teacher yelled her name and told her to complete her work, which hadn't been touched yet.
She obviously knew that her words got to Jihyo because of the way her fists were shut tightly together. Sana smiled at the thought. The bell rang, signaling the end of class and the start of lunch, also known as the place the seven of them really dominate.
They walked to the cafeteria, staying close to one another as they entered the huge, crowded room and headed over to their table. Jae and Chan sprinted to the table, trying to get to the table first so they could sit on top of it. Of course, Jackson was dragged into the mess as the two boys couldn't control themselves and had to be reminded once more that both of them could sit on the table at the same time.
The girls just walked casually, occasionally giving glances to students who looked their way. As they settled into their seats, a familiar noise erupted from the entrance of the cafeteria as Jihyo and her friends entered. People crowded her, attempting to get her attention while some students pushed them away so they could get through. Almost half of the period went by before Nayeon pulled the three of them to confront the group. Sana was completely oblivious to the fact that Jihyo was standing only 2 feet away from her until Chaeyoung loudly cleared her throat, catching the older girl's attention.
"Oh, Jihyo," Sana said, looking up to meet the dark gaze glaring right back at her. "Seems like you had some backup getting in here today, huh?"
"I did, in fact, yes." Sana hummed in response before going back to her phone, completely ignoring Jihyo's presence. After a few moments of silence, Momo spoke up, "Is there something you need that happens to be more important than food?"
Surprised by Momo's words, Dahyun gave her a small but noticeable glare before answering her question, "We came over to ask for you all to quit terrorizing people who do absolutely nothing to any of you." Jackson choked on the sandwich he was eating, causing Jeongyeon to burst out laughing. "You want us to what?" Jae said.
"We want you to stop making students feel as if they don't belong here. It makes no sense as to why you're doing it anyway," Nayeon retorted, looking at Jeongyeon and receiving a short look back to her. "You really think we're going to listen to you?" Sana said, laughing in between her words. "You-you must be cr-"
"Hey!" Jihyo yelled, making the whole cafeteria fall silent under her voice, including the seven troublemakers.
"I'm telling you for the last and final time, okay?" she said, stepping closer towards Sana.
"You." One step.
"Won't." Two steps.
"Cause." Three steps.
"Anymore." Four steps.
"Trouble." At this point, Jihyo was only inches away from Sana's face. She could smell the vanilla radiating off of her very intensely. Likewise, Sana could smell the aroma of jasmine that Jihyo carried. "Understand now?"
Sana could only nod slowly. Nayeon, Dahyun, and Chaeyoung only knew what things could happen when Jihyo was mad, so they always tried to avert tension and anger from her as much as possible. As for Sana, she loved seeing Jihyo riled up about a nonsense topic for no reason. The sight of her becoming so enraged only made Sana more encouraged to taunt her. Although this time, she didn't want to cause any more commotion, so she could only comply.
"Good," Jihyo said in a low voice, taking one last look into Sana's deep, brown eyes before turning on her heels and walking out of the cafeteria, her friends trailing close behind. The bell sounded, ending lunch. Sana, still dazed, couldn't do anything but let her eyes follow Jihyo as she left the room.
"She got me this time," Sana said under her breath.
"She got all of us this time, Sana," Mina smiled, chuckling as she startled her. She grabbed her stuff and walked out of the lunchroom to Science that she, unfortunately, had with Jihyo. Thankfully, the three girls would accompany her there since they shared the same class as her. Jackson and his boys parted ways from the rest, waving goodbyes as they headed to their classes.
She walked into the classroom, feeling a pair of eyes burning through her head but she didn't seem to mind it as the four of them comfortably took their seats. They were all given an in-class assignment to complete, which meant that Sana didn't have to do anything. Mina and Momo were trying to persuade her to at least start it, but why would any of that work on her. Of course, the teacher noticed this and asked for them to stop what they were doing and return to their seats.
"Today, I have something that will surely surprise you all," she began. "I have a new project for all of you." A symphony of groans and "What the hell, Mrs. Kang!" 's were thrown as the teacher quieted down her class. "Hush. Now, I've decided to make this a partner project in which case I will assign your partners. However, no switching, understand?"
Everyone nodded as she started to read out names.
"Lim JB and Byun Baekhyun." A slap indicating a high five rang throughout the room. A few laughs rose from the students around them as she continued with her list.
"Son Chaeyoung and Myoui Mina, Yoo Jeongyeon and Im Nayeon, Kim Dahyun and Hirai Momo." Altogether, they exchanged looks of disgust and agony as Mrs. Kang read their names aloud, confirming their partnership. After she read out all the names, she got down to the final pair. "Last but not least, Minatozaki Sana and Park Jihyo," she said, closing her attendance book and smiling brightly at everyone as she sat down at her desk.
"Alright, get together with your partner and discuss your plans. You will have two weeks to complete this project. Get started!" Shifting of chairs and desks meant that Sana had to actually get up and walk over to the person she least wanted to get paired with. Slowly, she sat down next to Jihyo, playing every move carefully as the younger girl made no attempt to do anything. Jihyo finally turned her head to find the blonde staring at her as if she was waiting for some command.
"Howdy, partner," she said as Jihyo just looked at her. "Seems like we have the next two weeks together. What fun, right?" she joked as she pulled out a fake smile at her.
"Yep, so much fun," Jihyo said sarcastically, reciprocating the smile that was plastered on her partner's face. "Well then, we better get started," Sana returned in response. Jihyo amitted a sigh and took out a pen and some paper.
"Please, tell me that you'll at least contribute to doing some work about this project, Sana," Jihyo said.
"Well, I can't promise you that, but sure," she replied, smirking as she saw her sigh once more and return her eyes to her paper.
"Don't worry, Miss Park. I'll be sure to make this as fun as possible. That I can promise you."
