honestly he doesn't like talking about his childhood - it's in the past and that's where he'd like it to say - but when he hears that you experienced the same pain he did he most likely lets it all out.

he feels a strange sense of familiarity whenever he's around you - so that's likely why he's so open to talking with you about it and feels so comfortable with you. it's the safest he's ever felt.

he knows that if he ever starts to feel the effects of what has happened to him setting in he can instantly turn to you. you're his rock and he loves the fact that you know exactly what to say to him to help comfort him.

it's comforting for him to know that you're always there for him, and he'll always be there for you too. the two of you have strange dynamics to other people, but it works fantastically with you two - hence why it would be such a strong relationship.

whenever you separate from him from his father it makes his heart flutter in a strange way and he feels endlessly happy. he's never felt so sure of his own identity than when he's with you.
