Secret Unveiled

Natalia's POV

I woke up three in the morning and found Adam out of bed. We slept hugging each other and now I felt utterly cold without his warm arms surrounding me.

He didn't do anything nasty last night but instead he insisted that we just sleep. And that surprised me.

I crawled out of bed without making any noise and out of the room. Outside, the whole house was plunged in the darkness.

"Adam?" I called in a small voice. No answer. I walked to the other rooms and opened each one but found none. At the far end of the hallway, I saw a small stairs leading somewhere. Curious, I quickly picked up my pace and climbed quietly.

I was about to push the door open when I heard voices inside. Moans of a woman and the sound of the bed rocking.

"Adam!" I heard a woman say. I inhaled, taking up enough courage before I pushed the door open.

Inside, against the light of the moon, I saw the two of them on the bed, both naked. It was Adam who noticed my presence. He stopped and sat on the bed, his back on me.

"You can go now." He said and with shaking knees I began to turn.

"You stay!" He ordered. "Veronica, leave." Through my blurry eyes, I saw her perfect body as she moved out of bed and began to dress up. Up close, she looked tall and beautiful. She waited for me to step aside before she exited the door in silence.

Adam managed to pull a pair of jeans and was now making his way towards me.

"What are you doing here?" His voice was cold.

I didn't answer instead I spun and descended the stairs. I didn't know where his woman disappeared to.

"You don't turn your back on me when I'm talking to you!" He raged angrily pulling me back inside the room. Adam slammed the door close and hurled me to the bed. I sprang away from the mattress, disgusted at the feel of it against my skin.

"You just broke one of my rules." He informed.

"I don't give a shit about your goddamned rules!" I answered back.

"Then you're not qualified to stay here."

"I don't want to stay here."

"Then leave!" He gestured toward the door. That's it? Just because I broke one of his golden rules, he's getting rid of me?

I forced my tears back knowing that if he saw me cry he'd think I had feelings for him. I didn't like him.

"Fine! I don't wanna stay here anyway!" I ran to the stairs.

What more hurt me was when I saw another woman by the entrance of his house. I stopped dead on my tracks. She's not the same woman in the room earlier. Tears came and my chest felt heavy at the sight. Like the first woman, she's beautiful too, and the fact that I looked like a drab compared to them both made me feel worse at the moment.

She looked at me but said nothing.

It was still a little dark outside but nothing could deter me. I went on, opened the large gates, and ran away from him.

I called Aimee and asked her if she could pick me up. A heavy downpour suddenly wet the roads and I had to stop by a convenience store as I waited for Aimee. Soon, a car pulled over in front of the store.
