~Marie ~

'Eddie loves me?' I thought of those three words all night long, even dreamt of them. By morning, I was still in Eddie's arms. Still facing him. He looked quite handsome when he was asleep, I kept looking at his lips for some reason and thinking about the first time he had kissed me. He had beautiful, luscious lips that any woman would kill to see on a man. Now, that I thought of it, Eddie can have all the woman chasing after him, he was that attractive. I wonder if he was a charmer back in his dad. I mean, a man that handsome has to be good with the ladies. I watched him sleep for about five minutes then had to get up and go to the bathroom.

I felt warm and wet in my lower zone, I looked down at my under wear only to find a huge red blood stain on my underwear. I started my period. Luckily, I always kept a stack of white undies under the bathroom sink. I did the usual bathroom business and came out half naked only wearing my black strapless bra and my white undies. I tiptoed to the closet, so I wouldn't wake Eddie, silently I opened the doors, hoping that Eddie does not see me half naked ....... again.

I quickly scanned for anything that I can easily slip on, until I found my purple shirt dress. I speed walked to the bathroom and closed the door.

The one thing I really liked about the dress was the way it looked on me. I'd always been a big fan of dresses that were small at the waist, and hung down like an umbrella. Another thing I really liked was the black belt it came with it. I guess you can say that I like the dresses from the 1950s

The year where the mature, beautiful ladies dressed so nicely and not like the hoes today. I looked at the bathroom mirror, I was my old self again.I peeked outside my bathroom, Eddie was still asleep. I packed a few pads for the road and stuffed them inside a random purse. I wrote a note to Eddie saying where I will be:

"Eddie, I'm at Faith's house, Faith needs help with something, will be right back.

Marie"

I lied, but I knew Faith was home along with her two year old son Michael. I left the room still looking at Eddie then closed the door. I needed someone to talked to, Faith was my only option. I couldn't talk to Ana because she's probably upset with me that I yelled at James, I couldn't talk to Charlie because he's at work, I couldn't talk to Ruby because she lived on the other side of town. Faith was my only option. The was quiet, too quiet, but I didn't care. I just ran outside the door and sprinted a across the street. Faith's house was close to where Ana lived, yet seem so far away on foot. Faith's house was a one story home with a beautiful yard. I approached her door and knocked at least three times. "I'll be there in a minute" I heard Faith yell, along with several baby cries. The door opened and Faith was mess. Faith's hair was scattered everywhere, and her shirt was full of baby vomit, Michael was on the floor crying. "Hey Marie" she sounded tired "Hey Faith, do you need some help?"

Her face was full of relief and invited me inside. I turned to her and took her by her shoulders "Faith get yourself cleaned up and take a break. I'll watch over Michael" she nodded her head and went in to the next room, mean while I was with baby Michael.

Michael was sitting on his bottom with a book in his hand and you blocks all around him. My god he was loud. I walk towards him and sat in the floor grabbing the book. He looked at me with tears in eyes and pointed at the book. "You wanna read the book" I said and took the book from his hands. Michael crawled inside my lap and I set the book in front of his face. I began to read. "Once upon a time there was a little girl who lived in a village near the a forest" I paused and looked at him. I got his attention, I read on. "When ever she went out wore a red riding cloak with a hood and that is why every one called her little red riding hood" I paused again and showed him all the pictures in the book. I read with the voices of the characters so that it would be more entertaining for him. "Marie, you are better with him then me" I turned back only to Faith in a new t-shirt and her hair combed back. I stood up and gave the book to Michael who continued looking at the pictures. Faith put her hands on her hips and gave me that eyebrow. "I can't get him to stand still long enough for me to read the book. I'm truly amazed" she said.

"Well Faith you have to have patience for children his age" I answered. She just stared at me and gave me a hug.

"So Marie do you need something?" She asked. I plopped down on her couch "Faith, I'm hiding" I looked at her and she sat down right next to me."Is this about Eddie?"

"No, something entirely worse"

"Tell me all about it girl"

I looked at her and sat up.

"I yelled at James because he was treated Ana like his maid"

"What was Eddie's reaction?"

"Scared and startled"

"How was James treating Ana?"

I sighed

"Horrible, like she was his personal slave. I hate when men think of their wives as just baby makers and house cleaners. What ever happen to equal partnership?"

Suddenly the phone rang.

"Hold on let me get this call"

I just sat and stared at Michael who was still looking at the pictures in the book. Seeing Michael made me wonder. 'Why don't I have a kid by now, why am I not married and not with child' I knew the answers, I just wanted to know what do I do now. My main dream in my life, besides being very successful in school, was to have my own family. Ever since I was a baby I had never had or knew family, I was kinda on my own. Till the Brooks adopted me when I was 17 years old. The Brooks were nothing but drug dealers and gangsters, so I had to learn from their ways. Of course I knew right from wrong, but in order to get to college I had to sell drugs and survive of the streets. The Brooks were just a loving family with problems and issues, but I still loved them even if they do sell drugs.

"Sorry, that was a wrong number, so James was mistreating Ana" Faith said while sitting down right next to me. My train of thought left for a moment, then came back to me.

"Yes, and I was so ready to kill James" I raged.

She put her hand on my mine and looked at me deep in the eye.

"Marie, I would keep a close eye on James, not only for the sake of Ana but for little Jamie as well. You should go and be Ana right now and protect her at all cost" She seemed so worried, yet frighted all at once.

I stayed at her house for at least 20 minutes more then walked all the way back Ana's house.

~Eddie~

I woke up alone starring at a wall full of pictures. 'Where was Marie' I wondered and start get curious of where she was at, until I discovered her note. She was not a whore after all. I got up from the bed and looked at the bathroom mirror. The makeup on the left side of my face started coming off, but not as much. 'Great'

At least it's not noticeable, I looked at my whole face, I looked old like my original age (46).

Marie she looks young like she's in her 20's and me 40's.

I walked over to the wall of pictures, she seemed so happy as if she was a different person. There was this young fellow right next to her in most of the pictures, they seem to be standing pretty close. He was a good looking fellow with brown eyes and brown hair. I start to wonder 'Was there a man before me?'
