Chapter 15 The Pink lipstick

He looked at me and touched the left side of his face, I saw the look in his eyes as he jumped off the bed and ran to the restroom. Mean while he left me still soaked in my clothes, still lying on my back. "SHIT!" I hear him in the bathroom, he came out with a look on his face with the peeled skin hanging off. I approached him "Wanna go see Charlie" he nodded his head and left the room,while I changed. I just put on some random jeans and a white blouse, I looked in the mirror and wrapped my hair in bun then pulled on my black rain boots and ran out leaving the bedroom door closed. I rushed down stairs to find Ana sitting on the couch still watching my video. She turned her head towards me and gave me an odd look. "Where are you going?" She sounded really tired. "I'm taking Eddie to go and see Charlie" she looked at me with a sigh.
"Well here's the car keys" she said as she handed me a pile of keys.
As I was on my out, I stopped and asked "Hey Ana, maybe you should come with us. Afterwards, we might get something to eat" she frowned and nodded her head no. I really wanted her to come with us so it won't be so awkward with Eddie on the car ride over there.

We walked out under the heavy rain just to get to the car. I looked at Eddie's face, his makeup wasn't lasting long for his fake skin started falling off and his real damaged skin started showing up. I started the car and we drove off in silence. The roads were flooded and the freeways were loaded with traffic.'Great' Meanwhile, still stood there in silence. I turned on the radio, just something to entertain me for a while and the new song by John Legend called 'All of Me' filled in the speakers of the car. Suddenly, Eddie started singing along with the chorus.
"All of me loves all of you, love all your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections-" I laughed and sang along with him.
"Give your all to me, I give my all to you, you're my end and my beginning. Even when I lose I'm winning
cause I give you all of me
and you give me all of you" the song ended, Eddie and I were left in silence again. Then a bunch of unusual songs in today's time started giving me a real headache so, changed the station to the oldies but there were nothing but commercials. "Darling, don't mine me asking but how old are you?" Eddie questioned. I looked at him then back at the road. "I'm 42 and I'll be 43 in August" His eyes grew with shock. "How old are you" I repeated his question. He stayed quiet for a moment then said "I'm 46" I didn't have a problem telling him my age, for some women that would be considered rude or be embarrassed.
"Are you ashamed of your age?" He asked looking down at his fingers folded in his lap and he seemed kinda down about telling his age to me "Eddie" I said as I grabbed his hand from his lap and held it close to mine. "Eddie, I have no shame in my age what so ever. I don't even try to hide my age, I just live life and you should too" he looked at me with bright eyes and kissed my knuckles, which I thought very flattering.

I drove up to the sign saying 'Charlie's place'. Since it was a rainy day, Charlie didn't have many costumers, therefore we didn't have to wait in line. When we entered the glass doors, Charlie soon popped out of no where and gave one of his famous bear hugs. "Marie honey and Eddie sweetheart, how may I hel-" Charlie stare at Eddie's face. "I think I know what's the problem, come the two of you, follow me" we followed him to a back room with all sorts of makeup equipment. "Ok Eddie, sit down right there and let me get the my tools" Charlie instructed. Eddie did as he was told and soon Charlie worked his magic. Eddie just sat down and relaxed as Charlie started removing the old fake skin and applying new, fresh skin. First just to get it to stay, he applied glue then added all sorts of cream, just to make it look real and blend in with his natural pale skin. Eddie looked handsome again. "Ok, Eddie you are good to go and here" Charlie handed Eddie a bag full of skin and masks. "Just in case the peeling starts again" Charlie added and kissed Eddie on the cheek. "How much would that be?" I asked digging in my purse. "No charge" Charlie answered. I put my hands on my hips. "Charlie, I have to pay you with something, can I just buy you lunch?" Charlie thought about it and said "Well alright, let's go B&Gs"
Charlie locked up the shop and we left for B&Gs.

B&Gs was all the way on the other side of the city. I had to drive over bridges and down bridges just to get to Ruby's place, which was worth it because Ruby can make some good mashed potatoes and gravy.
When we got over there the place wasn't really packed, it was just very few people. We took cover from the rain and stepped inside. "Well howdy y'all" Ruby greeted us at the moment we walked in. "Hey Ruby girl" Charlie said as he hugged Ruby. "Y'all here to eat" said Ruby holding up a three menus. "Yes ma'am" Charlie answers letting go of Ruby's small shoulders. I felt dizzy as Ruby led us to our tables, something was wrong with me. Eddie sat right next me and Charlie, across from me. I looked at the menu, at the salads'n soups section.Something was definitely wrong with me, I felt my head spin around and something rising in my stomach. "Are you all right ,darling. You don't look so good?" Eddie said worried. I shot up my chair and ran to the restroom, where I threw up all of my insides. Vomiting made feel a lot better. When I flushed the toilet and got out of that tiny stall I saw a familiar face with blonde hair and wearing a bright pink lipstick.
