October Part I

"Good morning, Jisoo." Jennie's voice had an extra cocky ring to it as she slid into her seat beside the brunette, who'd been diligently writing in her english notebook, ever the good student.

Jisoo shook her head in exasperation. "Good morning, Commander."

Jisoo didn't notice Jennie's reaction to her use of the nickname. It was different, the way Jisoo said it. The way it so elegantly and deliciously rolled off her lips.

Jennie forgot to speak.

"Another game won..." Jisoo drawled, glancing up at Jennie with a wry smile.

"You came." Jennie noted aloud, and Jisoo glanced away bashfully.

"For Chaeyoung." Jisoo blurted out.

"You have a thing for my cousin?" Jennie's bewilderment, and acidic tone, were not unnoticed by Jisoo.

Jisoo laughed, blushing. "Uh, not really. But...you know...support your local girl football player and all that."

Jennie narrowed her eyes, but smirked nonetheless. Jisoo was teasing her.

"You're on a roll, then?" Jisoo asked, leaning forward on her elbow, toothy smile in place.

"We don't plan on losing." Jennie shot back arrogantly, but she matched Jisoo's smile.

"Too bad." Jisoo whispered, her voice lowering so that Jennie was closer. "You know, you could really stand to be knocked flat on your ass a few times. Take your cockiness down a notch. I'd pay to see that."

Jennie grinned wickedly at Jisoo, enjoying their banter like she had come to enjoy most things about Jisoo. "You'd pay to see my ass, Kim?"

"That's not what I said." Jisoo scoffed, cheeks turning red.

Jennie's smirk forced Jisoo to shake her head, muttering, "You are incorrigible."

Their work began and Jennie's playful mood only seemed to bolster Jisoo's own spirits. She too had come to enjoy their banter.

Maybe it had a little bit to do with Jennie's offering of support the other day on the field.

Maybe.

But Jisoo began to notice little nuances and changes in Jennie's tonality, in her expression, a softness that perhaps had been absent on their first day. It was endearing.

Towards the end of the class period, Jisoo had noticed Jennie's telltale smirk boring into her.

Glancing up, she felt an immediate blush settling in. "What?" She demanded.

"Oh, I'm sizing you up." Jennie announced loftily, shutting her book with a satisfied smile.

"Me?" Jisoo snorted. "What for? Planning on taking our arguments to the next level?"

There was a strange intensity in those words. She found herself looking away, while Jennie licked her lips, heat pooling in her stomach.

Okay, so she had frustrating bouts of attraction to Jennie Kim. Who didn't?

"It's just..." Jennie shrugged. "I'm the so called Commander of the Kru...You're the head of your little group of...Delinquents."

"Yeah yeah, we're star crossed lovers." Jisoo rolled her eyes. "Why is this relevant? You planning on a gang war?"

Jennie's lips quirked up in a smile at that. "No. But I was debating inviting you to a party at my place, Friday evening."

Jisoo's brows shot up. "Your place?"
