Chapter 14

Hope POV

So King went over what happened at brunch, leaving out some small details I'm sure I will bug him about later but from how he is talking it seems like she is going back into this dark place again.

"By chance do you know what is wrong with Dream?

"I have an inkling but you guys have to understand she has been through a lot and there is a lot you guys don't know about her. A lot that you haven't seen of her even though you have looked right at her"

"What don't we know?"

"It's not my business to tell but I can give you my theory for why I think she is acting weird to a certain extent"

"Fair enough"

"*looks at Prince and then King* She most likely likes you to the point she is starting to notice it. She had been so set on not believing in love or anyone caring about her that this is probably scaring her. She's coming up with any and everything that she thinks is wrong with her and how she won't be accepted that it is getting her in this withdrawn depressive state. She's been bullied and criticized by people for years since a very young age. It impacts the way she thinks about herself and as a defense mechanism, she retreats if anything seems to be going right. She was supposed to be starting therapy but our school therapist isn't the best so she refuses to go back."

"Is she capable of hurting herself?" Prince asked

"...yes"

"Has she ever attempted to...leave here?" King asked

"Not since in college, but in the past from what she's told me"

"Oh gosh, I can't lose her. I don't want to lose her"

"I'll try to talk to her, but you have to consider...if she falls for you, you will hurt her"

"Why do you say that?"

"You're going back to Korea, how would that even work? That's taking a long distance relationship to a whole nother level"

"We can visit each other at first and if she's willing I would love for her to move to Korea with me. If it is too much I can move to America, I won't hurt her I promised you two and her that and I meant it"

"What if your parents don't like her? Will her skin bother them? What about her size? Will you get tired of the glares and whispers of disapproval? These are just a few things that would go through her mind if she gave you a chance" Hope explained

"I don't care if they don't like her if they care anything about me they will give her a chance. It will shock my parents I will not lie to her, but I think once they see how I feel about her they will start to adjust. I will lose my family if it means keeping her"

"She's not the type that will let you do that, she won't let you end up alone with only her to be there for you. She will give you up before she let you suffer" Prince stated

"I guess I really got my work cut out for me huh? She's worth it, I'll win her over. She's broken and although I can't make her perfectly like herself before I will slowly mend the pieces of her. I will build her confidence and self-esteem"

"If she's willing to take the chance I think she'll be willing to move to Korea with you. She's been wanting to study abroad and travel Asia for a while now. She has been learning Korean but hasn't been able to study as much because of school and stuff. She might get a tutor for it after she graduates" Hope said

"That would be cool, I would love to show her around, I've been to quite a few countries in Asia myself. Hopefully, her tutor is a woman. I don't want any guys getting ideas and trying to take her from me"

"The guys here aren't that special so I think you're okay unless she finds some international student, even then I think she would only be friends with them"

"Possibly"

So we changed the topic and talked about trying to get a trip prepared for spring break. We were thinking of going to Puerto Rico since you don't need a passport to go there and it would be a nice change of scenery from your typical state. I hope that Dream will give King a chance because I think he might be what she's always talked about in a boyfriend. I feel he can make her happy and that's something I rarely see.
