Chap 16: Protecting

Leo's P.O.V:

Back at the lair after the events of Mikey's escape:

We were all in the main room. April had her arms clutched to her knees, Raph was pacing around, Karai was sitting down on the couch and Splinter was standing still, and I was leaning on the TV. We were waiting for Donnie to leave his lab since he was currently doing something. I decided to break the silence and ask the question I know everyone was thinking. "What did you mean by 'withered,' Karai?"

Karai looked at me with confusion. "You know, you said Mikey's mind was withered, what did that mean?" I asked again.

"Oh, um, yeah. Well, when I searched his soul, there was a dark lingering feeling I had throughout the journey. When I kept going, everything started to dim down, as if all light was disappearing. Then, that's when everything started to literally wither. I wasn't able to find out what was going on with Mikey in time, everything was already crumbled. And by the time I got out, well, he wasn't here anymore."

Raph stopped in his tracks. "I don't get it. How the heck was he able to cut the ropes? We made sure nothing sharp was nearby."

Karai hissed her teeth and pulled out a kunai. "Yeah, um, that's my bad."

"What the- he got out because of YOU?!" exclaimed Raph.

Karai looked offended. "Are you kidding me right now?"

"No, I'm not! It's your fault Mikey got away. Now we'll never know why this mess happened in the first place!" accused Raph.

"Well excuse me for carrying a weapon around me. I never know what's gonna happen. So I keep myself safe at all times," defended Karai.

"Yeesh Raph, take it easy. It was an innocent mistake," defended April.

"No! I won't take it easy. Thanks to her, we might not be able to track down Mikey!" yelled Raph.

"Actually, I already know where he is," called out Donnie.

We all looked to the direction of his lab to see him walking out with his T-phone in hand. "How?" I asked.

"With this," he responded and raised his T-phone, "I already tracked him. He left his T-phone on. And from the looks of it, he's paying Leatherhead a visit."

"Perfect. Now let's give him a nice visit," said Raph as he cracked his knuckles. 

I devised a plan in my head. "Okay everyone, here's the plan. April and Karai, grab Casey and take him to the nearest hospital. If he stays here, he's not gonna recover."

"And how do you expect us to take him there?" asked April.

"You guys can take the Shellraiser. Casey's health is top priority. Me, Raph, and Donnie will go get Mikey."

"And I will meditate to see if I can reach Michelangelo's spirit," said Splinter.

"You can do that?" I asked.

"Of course," responded Splinter.

We all nodded and went our separate directions. Me, Raph, and Donnie went to the railroad system and started running as fast as we could to Leatherhead's home. As we were running, Donnie said, "Guys, I was looking through the security footage to see how Mikey got away, but it wasn't there."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I mean, there was no footage whatsoever of the all the events that happened," responded Donnie.

"Like what?" asked Raph.

"Well, I was able to see when Mikey had entered the lair before this whole mess started, but when the arguing was happening, it just cut. It wasn't until after I was seen carrying Mikey to his room that the footage started showing. And there was another footage that was cut a few hours later, and I'm assuming that was the same time Mikey escaped."
