Spider-Man: Far From Home // Review
Okay, fam. I saw Far From Home today and yeah I'm gonna cry forever but let's get to it. Needless to say, this will include spoilers to both Far From Home and Endgame.
So anyway I need to see it again because I was in such emotional shock after it was over that I'm sure I'm forgetting things but anyway let's start with the awesome parts, in no particular order.
PETER'S GRIEF AND PTSD WAS SO REAL, AND THAT WAS HEARTBREAKING BUT INCREDIBLE. I WISH THEY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN A LITTLE BIT MORE INTO THE PTSD BUT WHAT THEY DID DO WAS INCREDIBLE.
TONY GIVING THE GLASSES TO PETER, THE QUOTE AND THE WAY TONY SAID HE WOULDN'T GET IT CAUSE IT WASN'T STAR WARS. YES SIR I CRIED.
THE INTRO... THE WAY IT WAS A TRIBUTE YET IT STILL WORKED INTO THE MOVIE, NOT TO MENTION WAS A THROW BACK TO THE WAY HOMECOMING STARTED. ONCE AGAIN, YEAH, I CRIED.
PETER'S STRESS LEVEL WAS SO REAL AND WELL PORTRAYED.
PETER'S DOUBT WITH HIMSELF, THE WAY HE CONVINCED HIMSELF THAT TONY WOULD HAVE NEVER BELIEVED IN HIM LIKE THAT WAS SO HEARTBREAKINGLY REALISTIC. I KINDA WISH THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A MOMENT WHERE A MESSAGE FROM TONY OR SOMETHING CONTRADICTED IT A LITTLE MORE STRONGLY, BUT HAPPY TELLING HIM HE WAS THE ONE THING HE NEVER SECOND-GUESSED WAS STILL AMAZING.
I STAN ONE FLIPPING OVER-PROTECTIVE DAD WHO GAVE HIS CHILD ACCESS TO AN ARMY OF FLIPPING DRONES BECAUSE IF HE WASN'T AROUND TO FLY IN AND SAVE HIM YOU COULD BE SURE SOMETHING WOULD BE.
MJ STANDING UP TO BRAD WAS TOTAL GOALS.
I DIDN'T REALLY SHIP MJ AND PETER BEFORE BUT I LIKE IT A LOT BETTER NOW.
PETER'S ANGER WITH BECK WAS BEAUTIFUL. DON'T @ ME I MEANT WHAT I SAID.
EVEN DEAD I'M THE HERO. YES TONY. JUST YES.
Now besides the fact that the whole Nick Fury thing was incredibly confusing, I only have one real complaint.
TECH THAT TONY STARK MADE WOULD NEVER, AND I MEAN NEVER, OPEN FIRE ON PETER PARKER.
I honestly didn't expect it to. I actually thought that it was going to lock target and then refuse to fire, because Tony was going to be damn well sure that no one turned that tech against Peter, and that Peter could never get low and use it to turn on himself.
I'm not saying that Peter didn't do an amazing job against it... he did, and it was incredible to see my baby being so amazing. But that was a plot hole... I honestly think it was. I mean the man gave a sixteen-year-old an army of drones but his overprotective dad mind didn't think to protect him from them? No. I'm sorry, but no.
Anyway, I've got some major headcanon going so you can expect a one-shot or two in that area very soon.
But yeah basically I want to kill everything and everyone who was so mean to my poor baby. I screamed and cried through that entire movie not gonna lie. There were so many horrible parts, but the worst by far was when Beck told Peter that if he'd done a better job Tony might still be alive.
Oh my God... I wanted to kill him. Like I was so mad and so upset and yeah I'm not okay 3,000.
Another low point where I was definitely having thoughts of homicide was when that stupid reporter in the mid-credits scene was like, "He is undoubtedly the greatest superhero the world has ever known." Like, I'm sorry? What. The. Heck. Even if fricking Beck had saved the world, he did it once. How many times have the Avengers done it? How. Many. Times. Oh I'm sorry did I miss the part where he snapped away Thanos and his entire army and in doing so gave up his life? No? Great. Then FLIPPING SHUT UP YOU IGNORANT IDIOT.
And like Beck is just so hatable. I mean contrast him with Vulture, who as soon as he was in jail anyway could see that Peter was a quality kid and wouldn't give him away. There was him, and then there was Mr.-dying-wish-was-to-see-a-sixteen-year-old-be-turned-on-by-the-entire-flipping-world. Like oh my god I just want to see him die over and over and over again.
Oh yes and how about his stupid little flipping speech where he was insulting Tony and all the trash and oh my gosh I could barely hold it together. It is rare for a movie to make me that hella livid but I was ready to march into that screen and rip his tongue out because of what he was using it for. NOBODY TALKS ABOUT MY TONY LIKE THAT... NOBODY DO YOU HEAR ME.
Also I had basically decided to hate Nick Fury for telling Peter that Tony chose the wrong person and everything else but then it wasn't even Nick Fury and guys I am so flipping confused.
But to sum things up it was incredible and my one wish in life right now is for Tony Stark to revive himself just to kick some sorry butts who are torturing his kid like this. I mean, can you imagine how mad he would be? Just... think about it, and sleep with a smile on your face as you picture what he would do about it.
