Mr. Torpe meets Ms. Mahiyain Book 2 (A Promise To Keep)

Chapter 7

"Everybody listen!!!...We have a meeting at two in the afternoon.  That is today.  Everyone should attend. Okay?"  Pag-aanunsiyo ni Sir Ram.

Nagtataka ang lahat.  Parang biglaan naman ang meeting na yun.  Walang ipinamahaging advance memo para sa mga empleyado about the meeting. Anong meron?

It's already two o'clock in the afternoon. Almost all the employees are sitting inside the conference room. Officially the meeting will start at two fifteen.

The supervisors and managers are already in their respective chairs with folders in their hands. 

Jay was already there with Marie.

They are whispering with each other because they really don't know what is it all about.  But Jay was exempted in that matter.  She already knew about this urgent meeting.

A day before the meeting.

Sir Ram on the phone, "Hello Jay".

"Yes sir, ano pong kailangan natin?" she said.

"Tomorrow nga pala.  We have an urgent meeting.  It's about the training.  I'm going to announce who will be  joining you and have the privilege for the promotion.  But don't.....you know what I mean, Jay."

"Yes sir, I clearly understand. Thank you sir."

"Okay, that's all." he said.

Present day.......

The meeting started with a prayer.  After that, as a Head Supervisor.  Mr. Ram was assigned to announce the five lucky employees who were chosen to be a trainees in LA, USA.

"Now, I have the names of the qualified employees or must I say, the luckiest person in our company."
Opening the folder at dahan-dahang binasa at ngumiti. In his mind he said, they really deserved it.

"Ready?.. Now the first lucky person is..... Mr. Timothy Alvarez. Please come over here. Dito ka banda sa kanan ko.  Second is Miss Leonor Sandoval. Next is Sheila Marie Manalastas......"

Shock si Marie.

"Uy! Bes, tayo ka na. Ikaw na ang tinatawag."  tulala lang ito. "Hoy! ano ba?. Sabi ni Jay sabay hampas sa braso nito.

" Tumayo ka na. Naghihintay na sila sa'yo. " pag uulit ni Jay.

Saka lang si Marie tumayo at parang di pa rin makapaniwala na nakasama sa promotion at training abroad.

Sunod na tinawag si Mr. Ricardo Umali isa sa mga masisipag naming officemate sa finance department.

" Our last in the list is Miss Jayeanne Vergara."

Habang naglalakad si Jayeanne papunta sa harapan.  Nakikita niyang pigil na pigil ang saya sa mukha ni Marie.  Pagdating sa harapan ay agad siya nitong niyakap.

Masaya rin siya sa kanyang kaibigan.  At least, meron siyang kasama at bes pa niya.

Sa totoo lang masaya talaga ako at nakasama si bes sa mga napili.  She deserved it.  Nakita ko kung paano siya nagsisikap sa kanyang trabaho.  Hindi nga ako makapaniwala.  Kung bakit ako nauna sa kanila na piliin.  Samantalang bago lang ako sa company.  But, I never said that I doubt myself.  Kasi, nagampanan ko naman ng maayos ang aking trabaho.

Sir Ram. "Congratulations everybody. You're going to Los Angeles, California after two months from now.  Kaya marami-rami pa kayong time to fix your papers.  You can ask me or my help kung may problema kayo. As your immediate superior.  Open ako sa mga needs nyo. Anytime I'm free.  Para pag nakaalis na kayo at natapos na ang training nyo sa LA.  Pag balik niyo may pasalubong ako.  No, it's only a joke. "

Tawanan ang lahat sa sinabi ni Sir Ram. But sa totoo lang.  Sir ram is a really good person.  Magaan kasama.

"Goodluck and congratulaion again."
At pahabol pa niyang sinabi.  "Wala pala munang uuwi at walang overtime ngayon.  Sabay sabay tayong bababa mamaya para sa dinner. All paid by the management a simple celebration for our lucky employees. So, see you at dinner time everyone." Pagtatapos niya.

Kanya-kanya nang labasan sa meeting room.
