I sighed. I can't refuse. This 'Bohdi' character is polite, and it would be rude to refuse. Plus as long as I have one Pokémon who won't at least die when fainted for a while in the Poke ball, then it will be okay.
I guess Red can wait. Maybe he can't, but I can't back down from this challenge now. Plus it's a good way to train and earn a little bit of money. Getting Poke Balls so I can catch Cubone and so many more Pokémon is my main priority. Of course, Ultra Balls, Timer Balls, and Quick Balls would be nice. The rest sound awesome as well. Building up my team and training them is the best thing for this mission right now.
" Okay," I began. " Let's battle." Bohdi seemed to grin. I wasn't going to rule out the fact that he could be a part of team Rocket or the fact that he could be a Pokémon hunter. He didn't look suspicious, but looks can be deceiving.
Of course unlike the anime we didn't have another person to state certain things, but I don't think that's the most necessary thing. After all, I don't think Red's world is like Ash's. Ash's is pretty strange and weird. A Snivy bested his Pikachu at like level seventeen compared to level at least 70 by now.
The trainer seemed to be gazing at my pocket before throwing a Poke Ball. " Great Qwilfish!" The white light revealed the Qwilfish. The Pokémon seemed to be okay without being in water. It also appeared like in the game: floating sort of.
The Qwilfish gazed around, investigating me with her eyes, and curiously at the little Eevee holding on to my shoulders. " Hi." The puffer fish greeted the fox-like pokemon. Eevee waved a paw at the Qwilfish in greeting. Eevee flashed a quick smile at her.
" Eevee, you're up." I told him. He understood, leaping off of my shoulder to the ground. He nodded back at me. " I've got this." He mewed. Now that I think about it...how can I even communicate with these creatures? It's strange.
I mean I know I'm from another dimension, but how does that play along with my understanding of poketalk. " Qwilfish, Water Gun!" The Boy automatically started. The Qwilfish drew back, mouth filling with the so called, 'Water Gun.'
I was about to say dodge, but the Qwilfish was faster than expected for a puffer fish pokemon. He sprayed his cold, clearish attack on Eevee. Eevee flipped over from the attack.
" Are you okay, Eevee?" I asked him. The little fox shook his fur out, water dripping everywhere. He nodded. His eyes were aflame with fire, excitement glittered in them.
" Eevee, Tackle!" I ordered out the most obvious move an Eevee could learn. Eevee nodded, his neck fur swishing with his nod. He bounded forward, telling himself: " I will beat this Qwilfish."
The attack hit the Qwilfish full force, despite the: " Qwilfish, dodge!" shouted out by my opponent. Qwilfish was knocked onto his back by the brute force brought on by Eevee. " Good job, Eevee!" I shouted out.
Eevee puffed out his chest in his pride. The battle wasn't over yet. If it was then Eevee would be more powerful. The two Pokémon were evenly matched, perspiration shrouding their facial features as they panted, eying each other in rivalry.
This battle had only begun. Both Pokémon glanced at their trainer, awaiting their orders. The silence was broken out of when Bohdi ordered Qwilfish to use Spikes. The puffer fish focused her energy on the spikes attack she was bringing up.
I wasn't planning on switching, so I don't know what Bohdi was thinking with a move like this. Eevee seemed to be trying to avoid the spikes around him, seeming unhappy about this sort of predicament.
" Eevee, Growl!" I ordered. If he's going to use that move, I might as well ensure that Qwilfish doesn't get that much Attack. Qwilfish seemed to be trying to hover away from the sort-of roar, as she held on to the ground below her. For once, the ground was her forte despite being ground and not the normal water she was used to swimming in.
The attack halted, Qwilfish's attack was lowered, but there was no real way of telling. There was something off about the Qwilfish after that attack, though. " Qwil-" began Bohdi before I interrupted. " Eevee, Quick Attack!" I shouted. Eevee was enveloped with bright light before dashing at Qwilfish with sheer determination.
The little fox continuously dashes after the puffer fish, body slamming into Qwilfish with extreme force. The Qwilfish let out a cry of pain from the attack, somehow stumbling; she was trying to gain control of her body again. The attack had made the Qwilfish weaker.
Still, Qwilfish managed to stand. Hard determination on her face, but her face was a flourish of pain that she was trying hard to conceal. Her glazed eyes explained everything.
We can do this, if only we just get one more hit. I think that recent attack was a critical hit, because the Qwilfish didn't seem to be in so much pain before. Plus, there was a lot of force within that Quick Attack.
" Qwilfish, Poison Sting!" Bohdi exclaimed. The spikes surrounding Qwilfish's body extended as one of them shot something lethal from her small, round body. The little stinger landed it's way into Eevee; the attack made him stumble. Was he poisoned? Or was he just stunned from being attacked in such a way?
Eevee shook out his fur: it didn't poison him like I worried about. " Eevee vee!" "I still got this!" The two Pokémon continued their tussle. Both Pokémon glaring at the other in rivalry.
Eevee tried to use another Tackle Attack, but Qwilfish was determined to win this battle for her trainer. She rolled away, not really floating any longer, her quills extended so she can get a grip on the ground located below her.
Her spikes stick into the ground, leaving indentations of her rolling away in defense.
Qwilfish bounced for a bit: she took no damage; she had evaded it. Qwilfish seemed to puffer out in pride. " Qwilfish use Bubble!" Bohdi ordered the Qwilfish.
I've got several problems with that move. First of all, it is honestly pretty easy to escape bubbles you know; second: it doesn't really seem to be that good of a move because they're still just bubbles; third of all, it's just an annoying move. I don't know why it's annoying I just find it to be annoying is all.
" Eevee, dodge!" This time Eevee was able to dodge the attack. " Good job!" I praised him as he landed gracefully on his feet one at a time.
I was quick to send out my orders. " Use Bite, Eevee." I ordered him as he swiftly nods his head in understanding. It was a little weird to see. It must have been a little awkward to bite down on the weird puffer fish as she expanded, trying to limit the damage on her body. Guess that's her way of using defense? Or maybe it was an accident, but either way it was a useful accident.
It still didn't protect her from how low of HP she was at. She was still standing by the time the move was over, but she teetered as she collapsed, face first into the grassy forest around us.
We were victorious. Very victorious since this was the first trainer battle. I am not counting those weak Team Rocket grunts. Speaking of which, how many times are those losers going to come back? No matter what happens they will always lose. It honestly sounds better for their own good if they stop their loitering or whatever they do these days.
Bohdi didn't really seem that stunned he lost. Usually most trainers are overconfident they will win. It's hilarious how overconfident some kinds of trainers are.
" Wow! You sure are strong, miss!" He politely praised as he held out his hand. I took it as we shook hands. " Say, I never really got your name. What is it if I may ask? I would really want to know." Bohdi asked.
I was a little suspicious of this guy, but to be honest...he didn't seem like a bad guy. Maybe I should keep an eye on him in case he works for Team Rocket. Or just because he doesn't seem that strong. Does he even want to join up with me? It seems a little bit cliche now that I think about it. Usually the main character of Pokémon has like a sidekick or a human companion. I guess I should ask him in case he does want to join up.
" My name is Caroline, Bohdi. Nice to formally meet you, and good battle." I told him with a nod.
