Chris curses quietly under his breath as we drive to Mum's house. Tara-Leigh is shaking violently in the back seat. To ease the silence, I turn on the radio. 'Habits' is playing. I sing quietly as we pull up to my house.
I take a deep breath. After giving Chris a quick peck on the lips, my twin and I head in.
"Mum. I'm back." I tell my Mum. She looks up quickly and runs to me.
"I swear, if you ever do that again." To be fair I have been gone for at least twenty four hours. Mum's eyes look pointedly at Tara-Leigh.
"Mum, this is Tara-Leigh. My twin. She's been living in Ricky's basement, he was abusive, Mum." I spill to Mum.
"Well, Tara-Leigh. I'm Cher, Trojan's adoptive Mum. If you need we can let you stay here. Maybe even be part of the family?"
