Chapter 3

Mika

"Teka, bakit ako?" pagpoprotesta ko. Halos alas dos na ng madaling araw, at lasing na silang lima, lalo na sina Kim, Ara, at Alyssa.

"Ako dito," sabay turo ni Bang kay Ara, "at siya kay Kim," patuloy ni Bang. "Kaya ikaw na jan bahala," sabi ni Mela, pertaining to Alyssa.

The three of them are really wasted. Aside from the free bucket of beer from the bartender, Alyssa ordered a bottle of Johnny Walker and a couple of red wine. Though also a little bit tipsy, Bang and Mela can still usher their respective partners to their rooms.

"Anong gagawin ko dito? Hindi ko alam saan room niya," patuloy ko kahit hindi na naman ako pinapansin nina bang at mela dahil busy sila sa pag akay.

"Dalhin mo na lang sa kwarto mo," huling bilin ni Bang. "Wag mo lang gapangin, haha" sabi naman ni mela. At tuluyan na silang umalis akay ang kanilang mga kapareha.

Ilang saglit kong tinitigan ni Alyssa na naka yupyop sa lamesa. Naku naman, paano ko to dadalhin? Bakit naman kasi naglasing pa.

Narrative

Mika sighed for the last time and stood up. Her sudden movement made her a little dizzy, after all, she also had a few glasses of wine.

When Alyssa learned that she does not drink beer, she ordered wine. Mika does drink wine moderately. Still, a couple more glasses made her a little dizzy.

With all her remaining senses, she tried to wake the other girl. After a few nudges, Alyssa finally lifted her head a little. "Hmmm?" Alyssa asked in confusion and perhaps annoyance.

"Tara na!" Mika told her exasperatedly. "Uhmmm," was all Alyssa said, and obediently stood. But since she was much intoxicated, Alyssa was wobbly and almost fell down. Mika was fast to grab her.

Mika put Alyssa's arm over her shoulder and went to her room slowly. The two was a sight to behold. Imagine, two towering ladies walking while leaning to each other.

While walking, Mika could not help but mumble, "Bakit ba kasi iinom ng madami. Hindi naman kaya. Bakit ba kasi to nandito? Oo nga pala, ito rin ang may kasalanan sa zipline." Mika continued to mutter under her breath until they arrived in her room.

Mika fumbled for her room key, while keeping Alyssa upright. When she finally opened the door, she immediately propped Alyssa on the bed.

"Hay!" Mika exclaimed in relief and pursued annoyance. "Ano na ngayon?" she wondered.

Mika caught herself staring at the sleeping girl. She has two choices, one is to sleep on the bed beside Alyssa, or sleep on the couch curled up.

However, for the 5"11' middle blocker sleeping on the couch would be a curse. So, she just opted to sleep beside Alyssa.

After showering, Mika felt refreshed and could now smell the stench of mixed alcohol on Alyssa. Mika thought that she could not sleep beside Alyssa with that smell.

Hesitantly, Mika got a wet towel and started wiping Alyssa's face. Alyssa's eyes twitched a bit as the cold, wet towel reached her face. Mika smiled a little. She continued on wiping Alyssa's arms.

While doing so, Mika remembered the previous night. Generally, they had a fun night. Over the alcohol, they recalled their games, often which went back on the rivalry of green and blue. They laughed over the antics they made such as swags and stare downs. Mika even apologized for her infamous staredown on the Phenom, to which Alyssa shrugged and joke, "Wala yun, kinuyog ka naman ng fans ko after. So bawi na, hahaha."

Conversations became a little more serious when Alyssa opened the real reason why she's on a road trip. Though she did not give the details, Alyssa mentioned that she and Kiefer also broke up. She took this trip to clear her mind.

"Kahit pala Alyssa Valdez ka na, ginagago pa rin," Mika thought. After wiping Alyssa's arms, Mika pondered if she needs to change Alyssa's shirt. The stench was still persistent because of the shirt.

Eventually, Mika decided to change Alyssa's shirt. She gently removed the Phenom's shirt. Mika took notice of Alyssa's toned abs. "Grabe, dami na nitong nainom, pero hindi man lang lumaki ung tyan. Hustisya naman," Mika thought. She was able to stop herself from touching the other girl's abs. She quickly got her extra shirt and wore it on Alyssa.

Alyssa must have felt better after being wiped clean and worn clean shirt as she smiled and turned to her side. That was Mika's cue to take the space on the other side of the bed.

As Mika laid on the bed, Alyssa turned again on the other side, facing Mika. Mika just smiled and uttered, "Sleep well, Aly."
