「 Chapter 1: A New Compound 」
The helicopter's shaky landing managed to wake up most of the Gladers that were held inside. Even the blonde girl that laid peaceful in the plane as she dreamt. Lia groaned, awakening at the noises people were creating as the soldiers began to pile everyone out. She heard some soldiers from outside screaming and telling them to head inside. Turning to her side, Thomas was still fast asleep. Tired from all the physical and emotional stress they've been through.
"Thomas." Lia shook his shoulder but the boy wouldn't wake up.
He must have been dreaming.
"Thomas!" She tried again but still, he didn't budge.
Minho went over to check on the two, deciding to help Lia as they were being ushered out. He grabbed onto Thomas's shoulders and shook him awake. "Thomas!"
"Wake up! We got to go!"
Snapping his eyes open, the brunette's amber eyes adjusted to the flashing lights. Thomas saw Lia and Minho who were hovering over him with an urgent expression on their face. Screams of people telling them to hurry up were heard as a soldier stood by the door of the helicopter, waiting for them.
"Let's go! Let's go!" The soldier said making the teens scramble out of the helicopter. "Cranks! We got cranks!"
Lia began running towards the others, feeling the sand underneath her shoes. In front of them was a giant building with hundreds of lights around it, illuminating the way. The whirling sounds of the helicopter's wings were heard as it caused gusts of wind to dust over everyone. It was a good thing Lia still had her hair in a ponytail despite it now loose from all the running and fighting.
"Alright let's go! Move it!" Some of the shoulders screamed at them, urging Lia to move faster. The gunshots being fired almost made her turn her head and despite not fully trusting these people, she knew she had to follow for the sake of her life. It sucks that her katanas were taken by one of the soldiers.
"Holy Shit." The blonde girl gasped as they were taken inside.
She looked around the building, finding different metal boxes and people were running around. It had been a long time since she's seen new people—or adults for that matter. Lia felt a certain brunette's presence around her, allowing herself to look up at Thomas who was looking around.
Before she could speak, a man came over to them and began barking orders for them to move. Thomas held her hand as they were rushed into another room. The man opened a metal door, a squeaking sound erupted from the friction.
"Get inside! Hurry! Hurry!" The man motioned them to enter.
"Wait what's going on out there?" Thomas asked the stranger as they stood outside the door.
