CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN: Maximus Myers...My Darling.
"Breathe in." The instructor in front says with serenity. Or at least tries to.
My legs, crossed while I place my palms in front of me, slowly when she says, "Breathe out."
I exhale. Attempting not to roll my eyes when she waves a matchstick in front of her and breathes in the smoke. If the candle has no scent, she's literally just damaging the cells in her lungs, the walls in her alveoli and the risk of gaining lung cancer over us non-smoke smelling people.
"Breathe in." She instructs aloud, once again as my phone vibrates on the floor next to me. Maximus' name blares through the screen.
I roll my eyes again, honestly I don't get five minutes to myself anymore. Yes, it is ten in the morning on a Monday, but I really needed the time to just relax. School was not priority and I'd already handed in all my assignments at least a month ago. Mental health factors in well-being just as important as academic learning is in school.
I thought Yoga and meditation would do the trick.
Another vibrate, Ivan's number this time.
I breathe out, "Now it's time for more stretches, ladies, as far as you can go, split your leg muscles and bend forward as far as you can. Like this ladies." She says, demonstrating as we all do the same.
Diana's name is next on the screen, I let it go to voicemail, closing my eyes. Another vibrate, ignore it.
"Miss Parker, either turn the phone off or answer it outside, this is a private and quiet setting. I ask that you please respect that." She calls me out in front of class.
I bristle when heads turn my way. I groan in small silent air before snatching the phone and walking towards the peaceful temple, clicking on the green button to Everdeen's number when the screen announces her on the line.
"Parker speaking." I say in annoyance.
"FINALLY! I can't believe it took us this long to get ahold of you, you impossible person! Now, where are you? We're all at the cafe!" Diana blares through the speaker, demanding answers when all I want to do is throw my phone into the lake across from me.
"I'm not at school." I mention simply.
"Where are you?!" Maximus sternly demands from the other side. It sounded as if he'd snatched the phone from Diana, his voice louder as I assume he got closer to the speaker.
"Having some 'me' time, Myers." I answer, inhaling the fresh mint scent in the air. The man doesn't understand the concept of not wanting to suffocate as I'm always situated by his side.
"WHAT?!" He growls in utter confusion. I sigh, knowing he most certainly would not understand.
"Miss Parker, here is the tropical tango you ordered and your massage is in ten minutes, after your yoga class. Is there anything else I can help you with?" The waiter beside me, taking the rainbow drink off the tray and placing it on the table beside me.
