Awkward

He was moving closer and closer and closer,our lips were barely an inch apart,my heart was pounding so hard,but at the last minute I turned my face to the side and his lips collided with my cheek.I squirmed at that,I didn't know how react.

When I turned around to see him,he was embarrassed and shocked at the same time.We just stood there,the air was so heavy and awkward."I have to go,"I said hurrying away."Wait,Sarah,"he called but I didnt pay him any attention and just continued.

I went back to the cinema,when I sat back,Han said,"where have you been,you've been gone a really long time."
"I just needed to use the bathroom so badly,"I lied.She nodded and continued to watch the movie.Unlike me,who couldn't concentrate at all because of what had happened.

Before I knew it the movie was already over and everyone was getting out."I'm hungry,let's get some food,"said Stacy,we all agreed.

I was glad that I didn't see Michael so far,I wasn't in the mood for more awkward situations. But 'lucky' me,I saw him and his friends at the restaurant we were entering. I cursed to myself and tried to have a neutral expression on my face.

We ordered our food and were talking about when school starts."Guys I'm so excited to try out for swimming this year,"said Zoe cheerfully."Oh,I'm excited about getting a new boyfriend ,cause the last one didn't go so well ya know,"said Stacy.
Stacy was in a relationship with this college guy and they were dating for like a year or so, but three months ago she found him in bed with her MOTHER. her parents were already divorced before that and she had lived with her mom,but after the whole incident she went to live with her dad and so she hasn't spoken to her mom ever since.I felt sorry for her,but she's strong,she's handled it well so far.

Our food came and we all dived in like animals.I don't know why but I turned to look at Michael and I saw him staring back at me.I quickly turned away but Hannah had seen it all."Is there something between you and hottie over there,"she smirked,winking at me."Of course not,"I said a little bit loud.This had caught the attention of the other two,"What is it,"they both asked at the same time."Its nothing you guys,"I said looking at my fries."Ok,"they said shrugging to each other."Yeah yeah of course its 'nothing'",she whispered puttinh emphasis on nothing. She then mouthed 'we'll talk about this later' then started to eat her food.

I knew my best friend,and I knew she wasn't going to let this go.We finished our food and we got ice cream,we LOVED ice cream so much.I hadn't gotten caramel,Han got chocolate, Stace a strawberry one and Zo got a plain old vanilla.We used to make fun of her for always getting vanilla and used to get really mad,but we just laughed it off.

We were walking around as we ate our ice creams, and I saw Michael again.We had eye contact but yet again I quickly turned away.A lot of questions were going through my mind.

Why am i so nervous?

Why did he try to kiss me?

Why is this so awkward?

How can we get over this?

Will he come up to me?

My train of thoughts were interrupted but the commotion ahead.There was a fight going on and one of them had a gun.

We suddenly heard a shot and panic rose,everyone was running,trying not to be shot.When I looked around I couldn't find my friends,I started to panic and fell from the people pushing past me.

A hand was in front of me to help me up,it was Michael.I reluctantly took it,"C'mon we have to get of here,"he said as he guided me away from all the chaos.

We ran for a few blocks and stopped to catch our breathe."Thank you,"I breathed out."It's ok,"he said,scratching the back of his head.

I could see he was nervous,"um....I'm sorry about earlier..I..uh....I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."He looked like a lost puppy, at a loss for words."Let's just forget it never happened,"I forced a smile.It was still awkward.

My phone rang suddenly,internally thanking god.It was Han,as I picked up I was greeted with the frantic voice of Han."Sarah,where are you,are you ok,please tell me you're ok."I smiled at how worried she was,"I'm fine I'm fine, don't worry.Where are you guys?"I asked.

"We're at the mall,where are you?"she asked."I well...I'm with Michael."I could hear her scream from the phone."Relax dude,can you guys please pick me up?"

"No can do,"she was smiling, I could tell through her voice that she was planning something."Why not?"I whined."Let hottie give you a ride, it will be fun,byeeee."

She hung up on me,I was so going to kill her.I didn't have money for a cab,so I had no choice but to ask Michael for a ride.

"Um...Michael is it ok if you could give me a ride home,"I asked."Yeah of course,my car is just a block away."The awkwardness was still there as we got in the car.

He started the car and turned on the radio, it was playing 'señorita' by Shawn Mendez and Camila Cabello.It was a new song but I had instantly fallen on love with it.

All of a sudden Michael started to sing along,"You like this song,"I turned to look at him."Yeah its cool,"he said smiling,I smiled back.We rode singing along,well more like him singing and me humming along.I laughed as he tried to go for the high notes but failing completely.

We reached my house,"thanks for the ride,"I said and as I was about to go out"Um...Sarah,"he said in a low voice.I turned to look at him,waiting for what he was going to say.
"Can I ask you something?"
