Last time
“Lisa no! Please understand, please go with the operation! I don’t want you to die, please let yourself live longer!”Jennie was already crying as she followed Lisa in the stairs going up to the rooftop of the hospital
“Lisa!”
“Leave me alone Jennie!” Lisa shouted back and leaned on the wall, tears were already flowing down from her eyes the moment she knew how destiny played with them
Jennie wiped her tears away and faced her girlfriend, already sobbing but determined to make Lisa say yes to this. The operation is her only last chance. Last chance to survive and be with Jennie forever, but Lisa suddenly knew what happened and refuses to take the operation
“Please Lisa I am begging you-
“You knew right?! You knew and your dad knows too! That’s why he confined me, my god Jennie please don’t lie to me!”
“I didn’t lie! It was all a coincidence, I didn’t know it was her so Lisa please don’t say no to this…” Jennie begged and held Lisa’s elbow, pleading with her eyes while she stared at the cold Lisa
Lisa felt disgusted at Jennie, she didn’t expect her girlfriend to be this desperate to make her say yes again. She don’t understand why Jennie wanted her to go on with the operation when it is her friend’s heart she is going to get for a transplant
“I can’t, I won’t take a friend’s heart for me to live longer! You don’t understand that Jennie” she said and looked away
Jennie’s mouth went open, just last night Lisa was in all smiles celebrating and being so happy but right now she’s back to being this cold Lisa again. Desperate yes you can call her that but if you were in her place you would also do everything for your love to live right? She really love Lisa so damn much that she doesn’t care anymore whose heart is Lisa going to get, be it her friend or a stranger, she don’t care at all, she only care about Lisa. Lisa her life!
“Lisa please..”
“No, my decision is final. I can’t take Jisoo’s heart to survive!”
“Then would a stranger’s heart be okay? Lisa I don’t care whose heart it is as long as you live! If you’re gonna die then I would also die! Please-
Lisa stopped her and walk towards the railing “Please don’t say die anymore, you don’t know how frightening it is..”
Jennie followed her, still sobbing while silently wiping her tears away behind Lisa’s back “I won’t let you back out Lisa, I won’t.”
Lisa mocked a sad laugh and faces her crying girlfriend now. She stared at Jennie’s eyes, flashing a sad expression Jennie wished she didn’t have to see
“Believe me or not I really wanted to live longer and be with you till we’ll grow old, have babies and kids, bunch of kids running in our house. Marry you in the church you wanted, work with you, watch you cook meals for me I wanted to eat, watch you carrying my child and be happy forever. Believe me Jennie I dreamed all of it to happen just last night! I really wanted to live but what does living meant for you anyway? That I would take a friend’s heart for me to live longer? That’s so selfish Jennie and I don’t want that..”
That’s the first time Jennie saw Lisa burst into tears before hugging her, shaking her head and repeatedly saying “ I don’t want to die but I also can’t do it, please understand me Jennie..I promise I will make you happy but not this way”
Jennie tried her best not to burst in tears, she tried to act tough by caressing Lisa’s back and shushing her it’s gonna be okay well in fact, she really wanted to cried really hard because she just lost their one last chance to change their fate, their sad fate
A time limit was given to them
Seconds, minutes, hours, a day, a week, month, year.
Jennie don’t know how many seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, or years Lisa would be able to spent with her
She wished Lisa’s life would be timeless, in that way she could spend her life with her forever
But reality fucking hurts, Jennie still refuses to accept the truth that Lisa will die, no she still believe in her promises, believe in a miracle
Even if Lisa is already in the emergency room being cardiac massage by her father because of a sudden heart attack
Continuous short beeping sounds echoed through her ears as she watch blankly her Lalisa lying on her hospital bed, unconscious and weak, pale and in the verge of dying
“Wake up Lisa! No you are not gonna die!” her father shouted, beads of cold sweats rolling down his forehead as he continued giving the patient cardiopulmonary resuscitation
“No..” Jennie shook her head, still not believing the sight, still not accepting the sad truth
Lisa was only happy yesterday! No she can’t leave Jennie today!
“No no no no..” Jennie run away from the room, running away from the harsh reality
Until she stopped in front of Jisoo’s room.
She slowly opened the door only to see the unconscious Jisoo lying in her bed, a big tube was on her mouth and beside her is a machine showing her slow heart rate. She’s still alive but she’s already brain dead
A crying woman turned her head to Jennie “Who are you?”
Jennie broke at the sight, sadness was very evident on the woman who she assumed was Jisoo’s mother. But she ignored her feelings of empathy, her feet brought her here for a selfish reason, very selfish but she doesn’t care anymore! Lisa is dying and she can’t still accept that, if Lisa will die today then there’s no reason for her to live anymore
She might as well die
She kneeled and bowed on the floor, determined to make Jisoo Lisa’s heart donor “Please give Jisoo’s heart to Lisa! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please!”
She repeatedly cried and yelled “Please!” in front of Jisoo’s mom
The woman also kneeled down to stop the brunette but she didn’t stop on crying”Please! Please! I don’t want Lisa to die! I will also die! Please give her heart to her! Oh my god I can’t let Lisa die! So please! I am begging you! I am really begging you! Give her a heart to live with me! Be with me! Oh my god please! Please! Please!”
Jennie already burst into tears when the woman lifted her face to face her “Kid I can’t give my daughter’s heart that easy..”
And that, Jennie bowed again “Please! Iam begging you! Please!”
Jisoo’s mom lifted her face again “I hear you young lady! But please do understand that I can’t just say yes that easily! My daughter shed tears and this morning she lifted up a finger, the doctor told us it was just a reflex but to me her mother it was a hope. A miracle might happen, tomorrow she might wake up and said “Mom where am i?” the woman held Jennie’s shoulders “I can’t let that hope go away with my own hands!”
With that, Jennie cried even harder, shaking her head as the woman holding her shoulder tried to calm her down “Please understand, I beg you too. I am so sorry”
“N-o I-I can’t, Lisa is dying..she is leaving me..”
“Can I ask who is she?”
Jennie paused and closed her eyes in tremendous excruciating pain “My fiancée”
Jennie’s father came and stood up the soulless Jennie, he bowed in front of Jisoo’s mom “I am sorry for my daughter, we’ll be going now”
He drags Jennie but he stopped, Jennie was still there standing and staring blankly on the air. His heart broke, he doesn’t want his daughter looking like that. He leaned close and wiped Jennie’s tears
“Lisa recovered Jennie, go to her room now because this might be the last time you will be with her”
